Couldn’t Baylor play another season because of Covid?

Yes,

But also keep in mind that he seemed pretty close to not coming this year and was ready to move on and get paid already -- not saying he should or will, but the theoretic possibility that he could play another year seems pretty unlikely to happen, to me.

NIL has changed things in ways that I don’t yet understand. Timme came back to Gonzaga this year basically saying he would make more money playing in college than if he took his shot at the NBA. I’m not sure we can know for sure who is going to go and who is going to stay. New frontier.

The commercial for UNLs collective that is on TV right now makes me want to puke. However, I’m sure it is going to be very successful in the western 4/5ths of the state. How small schools keep up is a mystery to me.

I heard that on the radio the other night before the Jays game. Thought to myself “Wow that’s interesting to have a private entity going direct to the public asking for people to give them money to help UNL recruit and retain student athletes”.

We still have another season before 2024 guys hit campuses, so worrying right now about selling playing time or what roles might be available is silly. We have no idea what the roster is even going to look like next season, let alone the season after that.

If you don't think coaches are doing that, that's silly. They are selling the dream. Selling the situation of "you come in and take XXXX's minutes." That's a huge part of recruiting. Roster makeup - real, hypothetical, projected - is part of the story coaches sell. Not knowing with certainty what the roster looks like is irrelevant. This is what coaches are doing, among many other things.

They're not going to sell a 2024 recruit on taking Baylor's minutes because that would require him coming back for a fifth year first, which I don't believe was the plan heading into this year. Any of Kaluma, Kalkbrenner and Alexander could also choose to go pro after this year, in which case you again can't sell their specific minutes/roles to 2024 recruits because you'd need someone to fill that/those voids next season first, and who those players are impacts your recruiting pitch to guys coming behind them.

I'm willing to bet they're selling Flowers on coming in and being a big piece of what they do from day one because he's talented enough and some of the guys currently shouldering heavy loads will likely have moved on by then. I'm sure they're selling any center recruits they're going after that they can be the next Ryan Kalkbrenner if they pick CU. But they're not specifically promising Baylor's or Kalk's roles to 2024 recruits or beyond because the timeline doesn't make sense (and also because Mac doesn't promise playing time). There are conversations about what the roster might look like and how a recruit might fit into that picture, but I'm willing to bet those are focused more on the players' ability and how they fit into the system/program more so than any specific role that currently belongs to a player who may or may not be on the roster next year or the year after. It's different when you're talking about players that are coming in next season and you have seniors or others on your roster you know are going pro.

Anyway, we're probably just arguing semantics at this point.

Mason Miller's the new frontman for the Cookie Company. This might signal that Big Cookie will become a major NIL player. It's way past time anyway that Keebler send those worn-out elves back to middle earth. Maybe they could sign up an entire team.

I think Lucky Catch Davison left the orcs' ath dept so he could run their NIL collective. These commercials are probably his doing.

I think Christian would be a great fit at CU. He is really thin but has a great touch on his shot. Go Jays!!
