Regarding Baylor. The exact quote in OWH article:

Scheierman said he’s heard from a few schools that want him to handle the ball less. They aren’t the ones that will make his final list.

“I feel like my passing ability and my ability to read the defense is what makes me unique,” Scheierman said. I wouldn't want to sacrifice those parts of my game. Ultimately, I'd like a similar role to what I had (at South Dakota State), just at a higher level.

I would advise people to watch a game from this season in its entirety and tell me why he couldn't fit into our starting 5 without sacrificing minutes for Trey/R2/Art/Kalk. In my opinion he is the perfect compliment to that lineup. He never says he wants to be a PG. Nowhere in the article are the words point guard used. He wasn't truly a point guard at SDSU either. He rarely brought the ball up the floor in the full court. He does distribute exceptionally well and can shoot the lights out of the ball. Maybe its wishful thinking on my part, but I don't get people being dismissive about either a) his ability to contribute here or b) how everyone else would get their minutes.

A backup to Kalk (King) and Baylor would make us serious contenders for a national championship next season, and I'm usually the most pessimistic person that I know. The question is where we get the other scholarship to land them both.

It can mean a lot of shot attempts; he'd have the green light at all times like Hawk did. If he thrives in CU's great system, he absolutely could be our leading scorer next year. In Omaha, that might mean you score 16 per game because we are balanced as opposed to potentially 20/game elsewhere. But with Creighton, if reality meets expectations, you're also on TV every game competing for a 1 or 2 seed in the NCAA tournament and possibly a National Championship.

It's a strong, honest pitch.

Yes! This. This is exactly the point I was trying to make in my post above. Hawkins wasn't a point guard, but he sure had the ball in his hands a lot in our offense. No one complained about him squeezing out the rest of the team.

When I watched him play against Providence I was very impressed. He's a legit player, I definitely can see him being successful on any team next season and have a nice NBA career afterwards.

The question is, where's the scholarship coming from if we land him and King?

This is why I think it's a futile endeavor to be fawning over Scheierman. The probability is extremely low based on the outlook of the roster and scholarship situation. I just can't see us losing another player with the transfer portal deadline 3 days away. Maybe there is insider knowledge that I'm missing on word that someone is leaving, but even if we miss on King the staff is more likely than not going after another Big in the portal (Xavier Foster maybe or more likely a low mid-major transfer like Keyshawn/Kelvin).

You grab Reef, JC, Rati and Miller (mostly because his dad can probably foot the bill for a year of tuition) and say, “I need one of you to walk on for a year, we will find a way to cover it with NIL money” and tada a scholarship becomes open.
It’s not a pretty picture but with NIL and the transfer portal collage sports is a completely different beast than it used to be.

They’re absolutely going all in on Baylor. Go look at Ryan Millers Instagram stories. Entire staff on a private jet to go recruit.

100% you make room.

Nah not really in the business of pushing 19-22 year olds out when they don’t want to leave. And not well-versed on NIL but haven’t heard of walk-on cases getting scholarship equivalent money for previous scholarship players. Seems like a gray area you don’t want to wade into while under probation (unless you’re Kansas or UNC of course).

Doug went to being a walk on to give us an extra. It could be done without a player leaving.
