I really think that this team has enough size without King, or a currently available transfer big, to compete for a first-place BE finish. Kaluma, Green, and Miller all give you some interesting lineup options. Our coaches have successfully played small in the past, we can do it again if we have to (the worst case scenario being Kalk is injured for an extended period, which I don't think is something we or the coaches should assume). What you really need for that to work is more shooting. Which is why I've thought this whole time that getting a high-scoring option on the wing was the top priority.

Totally disagree, we need a backup big. Kalk could get hurt the 1st game of the year and we would be stuck playing with an undersized team the rest of the year...not saying small ball lineup wouldnt work at times though.

Exactly. Small ball works and works at certain times. Need a big for at least defending the rim.

Fred is raw, but he isn’t Atiki raw. Atiki had played less than 30 games of organized basketball in his life and has his senior year in Canada cancelled due to COVID. King has prepped at the NBA Academy in Mexico with top-notch facilities and trainers. He would have closer to a Fouss impact year one. He would be a great rebounder day one, and can score inside with the ability to hit the three. King is still 17 and has so much room to grow, but he will have an impact wherever he goes day one.

King visited Georgia Tech before his Creighton visit, but I believe it is down to BYU and Creighton. King just finished an official visit at Creighton, and all indications are that it went really well. King wouldn’t start there, but he would be a rotation player for a potential top 10 team in the Big East. That’s a big sell.

BYU could offer King an immediate starting job, and his coach at NBA Academy Walter Roese — a former BYU assistant coach — has been in his ear about BYU. BYU also plays in the Battle 4 Atlantis November 23-25, which takes place in King’s home country of the Bahamas. Collin Chandler is on BYU campus to help recruit King.

It will be extremely close between BYU and Creighton. If I HAD to choose right now, I would say he goes to Creighton. But ask me again after he finishes his BYU official visit. I expect him to make a decision in early May.

PS: Jays & BYU have a return match (neutral court) in Las Vegas this fall.

Respectfully disagree. I love that you're tracking this stuff and providing updates! It may or may not mean much, but I find it interesting. Thanks for putting in the work!

I still don't know if I'll be handle landing both Baylor and Fredrick. Elon Musk bought Twitter. If he really wanted to turn a profit, he should buy Kool Aid too. I'll be cashing out my 401K to buy as much of the blue flavor as possible if this happens.

Playing Art, or Green or Miller at the 5 to create a mismatch is one thing, having to play them at the 5 is quite another.
