2022 Transfer Thread

He's definitely not a splashy transfer seems like a good 7th or 8th guy off the bench. That being said he can shoot the 3, hit FTs and hes another ball handler. Also he has a 2:1 assist/to ratio so he probably has a high basketball IQ. He also played 20 mpg on a NCAA tournament team.

Solid pickup. Not thrilled but not upset either. Obviously not trying to push anyone out the door or anything, but does anyone know if anybody else on the roster is considering a transfer out? Just curious because we seem pretty locked in with the 2 Fs so wonder if that’s that and the roster will be set or if we’ll still be poking around.

We lost 2 guys in AO and Hawk who were excellent rebounders, very good defenders and were 6’7 and 6’6. If Farabello at 6’3” is the guy that they pick up, then it seems logical to me that they have confidence that Mason Miller at 6’8” will be playing A LOT, either starting or 6th man.

Either that or we will be transitioning from a very big team to a 3 guard team. Perhaps, Trey at the 3.

Not a splashy get at first glance but trust the coaches. They've shown themselves to be good at evaluating talent when they aren't reaching late (Paras, Modestas, etc.).

Maybe this isn't completely fair to him, but I have HIGH expectations for Miller this year. I think he'll be every bit as good and impactful as Ryan/Arthur/Trey were this past season.

Fran took a lot of heat on this board but he was a big part of this team's success this year. Not great defensively but hit some big shots on offense and by all accounts was a great teammate and leader. I think his playing time was probably going to suffer next year with the two redshirt guards ready to come back. Nevertheless, I wish him the very best and hope he knows he will be missed and will always be considered a Frog for life! Good luck Fran!

I’m expecting a Frankie Farabello commitment this weekend. Sounds like meetings have gone well and the Miller relationship is still really solid.

If this is actually the case, I can say I am VERY disappointed. Farabello is very underwhelming. 20 minutes a game, 5 points a game, 2 rebounds, 1.5 assists. Not the kind of player we need or should go after. Seems he should be going to a lesser conference not as an additional piece for us. NOT a good choice at all.

Career 39% 3pt shooter, great freethrow %, TCU fan favorite...seems like a glue guy who Miller has faith in. CU obviously needs a reserve big man, but having the stable of guards like this at our disposal is something I love. He could be the spark off the bench that CU had this year with Trey (and Rati). Can't get behind you saying "NOT a good choice at all".

Also the possibility they think he wasn't used properly there. Dixon's the coach there, and he's not known for his wide open offensive sets, and Farabello had 2 guys who were ahead of him at the guard positions (and who were the 2 leading scorers)

Farabello was 13th out of 15 players on the roster in terms of usage last year, while the other 2 guards were first in usage on the team (well behind a guy who barely played).

Additionally, advanced stats like him a lot more than his raw stats -- 5th on their team in Win Shares/40 minutes, 4th in Box Plus/Minus per 100 possessions.

I think that given our spacing, I'd think we could find him a lot of open 3's

This is quite a puzzle Mac is putting together here. Guys that can play the 1, 2 and 3 positions...

R2 - 1 and 2
Reef - 1 and 2
Rati - 1 and 2
Trey - 1, 2 and maybe the 3
JC - 2, maybe 3 in small lineup
Schtolzberg - same
Poossibly Kaluma - 3
And finally Farabello - 2?

Even if we only play Miller and Kalk beyond those guys (which wouldn't make any sense of course)... that's a 10 man rotation! And we've got a LOT of 1s and especially 2s...

Hmmmmm...

Unless we have some attrition, forced or otherwise....

The returning squad has no spacing. We graduated our only two volume 3-point shooters. We need to replace 12 3PA per game. Our returning guys made a total of 89 3s in 35 games last year (2.54 per game) on 336 attempts (9.6 per game) for a whopping 26.5% from 3. And that was from a squad that finished in the bottom 15% of all teams in the country in 3P%.

It’s our system that creates the spacing. We didn’t lack for open looks, just didn’t knock them down.
