I am a bit concerned - if we have room for a wing and we took a long-term transfer (like Richard).
Will Richard appears to be a helluva SG/Wing, however, I am inclined not to keep bumping new transfers
in front of our recruited guards/wings. Richard would be a 3 or 4 year insert into the lineup. I think
that may demoralize our current cadre of guard/wings... (JC, Trey, Shtolzberg, Miller, etc.)
I would rather, if we absolutely need a wing, to take a 1-year guy like Sr Tristen Newton. He makes/breaks
the lineup (probably makes), helps the team, and the current guys could live with that, knowing they get
their shot partially this coming season and in earnest in 23-24. What say you?
Personally, I'm generally going to lean the younger guy and I think Richard has the potential to be a better player than Newton, but that also assumes Richard stays longer than one year and I know he has NBA aspirations. I'd be absolutely thrilled with either guy and I think either of them puts us in the preseason top 5 conversation.
Tracking Richard visits/reporter tweets, all of the schools he's seemed to have shown significant interest in so far have been in the South. Hopefully our location isn't a dealbreaker for him. One stud 2/3 and a reliable backup C. We land those two things this offseason and we're gonna be heavy Big East favorites.
