Of those currently available King and Richard would be highest priority for me.

Trifecta, I agree with your take on JC and Miller. I think they will have very good careers at CU.

Everyone is talking about three point shooting as the big need but we played elite defense last year. Hawk and AO were good long defenders and excellent rebounders. We have Kalk who is a complete monster on defense but he is only one (dominant) guy. I’m sure staff is thinking about chemistry and defense as well as 3 point shooting. It would be great to get a great 2 way guy, shooter and defender.

Goodman: Belmont freshman guard Will Richard, who averaged 12.1 points and 6 boards this past season, has heard from Arkansas, Tenn, Wake Forest, Clemson, Florida, Ga Tech, Ohio St., West Va, Penn St and Virginia, per source.

No Creighton mention here...

Trifecta wrote:King over Stevenson for sure... King would fill a glaring need. While not ideal, we've proven we can be a good team if we aren't shooting the three, particularly well.

You have to imagine that JC, Miller, and improvements from the other guys will help fill some of that gap. Would be nice to get a wing scorer in addition to King however.

King is very high on my list - allows us to have a quality big to backup Kalk and learn (he'll only be 17 when he starts school, IIRC), and sets us up to keep doing a lot of what we do now with Kalkbrenner in the future.

I'm very high on Miller stepping in, and still like JC's potential (he had a few minutes in the game or a couple games prior to being injured and he finally looked comfortable on the court in the BE).

Sounds like Mitchell will be back, so have options, though, and I wouldn't mind getting a solid shooter who can play a bit of SG and SF.

I'd add Alexander and Kaluma to the list of potential shooters for next year. a few 1000s of shots will get them ready for the season, I think

didn't realize the Belmont kid would be in same class with our other core.

Balancing roster out wouldn't be the worst thing.

In regard to adding our returning pieces to that "3 pt threat" list. I am really encouraged/hopeful that we will be a MUCH better shooting team next year even though we lose Hawk and AO. Our guys have consistently shown HUGE jumps from their freshman to sophomore seasons under Mac. Khyri was a completely different player after his freshman year. Kalk was much improved this year in his expanded role. Martin, once healthy, showed huge gains after his first complete season. Learning Mac's system is almost all you can focus on your first full season and once that is checked off its like they can start to work on their game and showing us what they are actually capable of.

I think those guys will all improve their shooting %s next season so I guess my biggest concern is just finding someone who can replace Keyshawn's role on this year's team. Someone who can play 10-15 to spell Kalk and not have a huge drop-off in production kind of like when we had to throw Jett or Manny out to spell guys in the not so distant past. Loved what Keyshawn brought this year. He was no Kalk, but he was great for what we needed. We need another Keyshawn more than anything else next season. I don't think we get that with Modestas. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it.

and he also projects to be a very good shooter. Ofc you can't know for sure, but shooting nearly 33% on a (relatively) high volume of 3's as a true freshman is very encouraging. And I think he has the physical profile to translate that skill, among others, to the big east.

Not super excited about stevenson. I'd much rather take Wright or even Green from UNI. If you're going for a shooter, get a good one. Two of our sophomores could easily shoot better next season than Stevenson did last season.

I didn’t think CU was a viable landing spot for this guy who wants to be the man.
