I would assume we are looking at difference makers at their current school that are looking to make a change for other reasons like coaching, geography, upgrade to competition or team chemistry. No offense to Kerwin Walton but if he's not playing at UNC what makes you think he's find playing time here?
He had great stats in year 1. Maybe the coaching change played a role/got recruited over.
Definitely lost time in the rotation and don't pay enough attention to NC to know what happened. Started 20 games as a Frosh, 1 this year, minutes from 21 per game to 13.7. Even per 40 numbers off this year -- 15.6 ppg to 10.3, and 3.5 assists to 1.3
article has some commentary, but from a NC homer type viewpoint
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk ... ar-AATUbq7Davis tried to warn Walton before the season began that he'd be treated differently this season.
"I told Kerwin that last year, he wasn't on anybody's scouting report so he was getting wide open, spot up 3s anytime that he wanted to," Davis said. "Towards the latter part of the season, teams started playing a little bit differently. But going into the season this year, I told him rarely will he ever be left open."
Kind of feels like he got buried on the bench to me (if he's playing 13 minutes a game, he isn't really on the top of the scouting report, whatever Davis says above)
