This is an interesting development.

I am assuming things are not going well with Dawson or Thomas then?

Who is this new guy?

Dawson has said throughout that he plans on taking all of his visits, so I don't read a lot into that. Could be an insurance policy or a matter of the staff just not wanting to wait around.

This kid has the chance to be a stud folks. Under the radar due to ACL surgery last winter. Missed most of his jr year, and AAU.

Watch the video, I'd take him in a heart beat if he's healthy. Amazing handles and passing, impressive stroke from deep. Great ball and head fakes. Appears to have a top level court awareness which is something a Jay PG has to have.

I love his video, think he could be a great player and normally would love to have him, BUT let's say we get him. In two years time we have Chatman (6' point guard), Yates (6' point guard), Jack Gibbs (under 6' point guard), and then Nick Norton (under 6' point guard) on the team. That's almost a third of our roster consisting of point guards that are under 6' tall. If we make it to the NCAA tournament who is going to guard the tall and athletic 2s and 3s that you'll see? You've got Nevin, Dingman, Zierden, and Darian Harris as your options to guard the 2 and 3.

Good point Freddy. Think Talbert projects as a wing in Mac's system as well though. Also, with redshirting the point guards will probably be spread out a little more possibly.

Harris
Johnson
Dingman
Talbert

That's a pretty good group with some size on the wing for a while, IMO.

Agree with getting big guards though like Dawson. Kid would be a huge get after losing Foster. Love his game.

Pomeroy has looked at some stuff on height and basically found that the greatest correlation with defensive efficiency is in the height at the 4 and 5 positions. If he's right, and he's much smarter than me so I'll go ahead and assume he is, then that lack of height in the backcourt is probably a bit overstated. It's more defensively problematic to play guys like McDermott and Wragge together at 4 and 5 than it is to play a couple of munchkins like Chatman and Norton or something.

Related to Big Guards...
Dingman, Johnson, and Darian Harris are guards.
Harris even played PG in HS and AAU.

If we do accumulate 4 six-footers, the recruits gained in 2013 and Norton in 2014,
will not see much in the way of playing time - if they have to beat out AC and AY2.
Barring injury they can only expect spot minutes.
Dawson or another big guard is always welcome.
