High caliber point guard skills. Crafty point, playmaker, plays under control, has elite use change of speed and direction to set up his defender up.. Has the ability to collapse the defense off the dribble and can make plays for others around the rim and on the perimeter. Plays with in the offense, can create off the dribble to penetrate and has explosiveness around the rim. Championship point guard as a freshman, Only the 3rd freshmen to start varsity for De La Salle. All-State-Tournament team and the only freshman in the state rank in ESPN’s Top 100 in the class of 2015.
Johnson has the speed, quickness, athleticism, motor and ability to change gears to be a special lead guard. Johnson also has excellent court vision and does a good job with the advance pass on the break and finding the open man. He excels on the break, but can run the half-court offense as well. Johnson has a nice midrange pull-up jumper that he can get off at any time with his ability to beat his man off the dribble. He can hit the open 3 but must work to make it a consistent weapon. Johnson must learn not to take chances with the ball at times and pay attention to his shot selection, but this can be expected from such a young guard. Johnson can make a play with the clock winding down and overall has great upside.
