Ryan Hawkins from D-2 NWMSU. I’ve heard some rumors he could be coming here as well, but obviously nothing concrete and it’s just a rumor right now.

6’7 forward who averaged 22&8 last year, shoots 41% from 3 in his career. Last few things I’ve heard rumor wise were correct, hoping this one is too.

Good question here. We've got Modestas and Mason at the 4 right now. Adding another makes that spot crowded. Maybe we plan to slot him into the wing spot?
And he's not really built to be a 5, especially in the BE. It'd be just like throwing Wragge out there again, but Ryan is even less well-built than Ethan (and way less so than CB). He'd need to bulk up considerably.

He'd definitely start at the 4 IMO with Kalk at the 5.

Mason and Modestas are great prospects but 0 experience. I feel like we'd have Hawkins start and help mold those guys into contributors in the coming years.

I can see Hawkins starting early in the year, but if our top 75 recruit and TN Mr. Basketball, isn't starting over a DII transfer by the end of the year, I'd be shocked. I don't think Mason is coming here to be molded into a contributor for future years.

I'd be shocked if Mason isn't starting on day 1.

There are 200 minutes available and open competition for them. Creighton’s 4 out, 1 post offense doesn’t have to be 4 guys 6’5 or under like the last two years.

Coach Miller recently followed Davion Warren from Hampton. Was committed to Memphis, but looks like he’s back in the portal.

Big time player. Would certainly help fill that guard bucket getter role.

It's not like Mason is a 5-star one-and-done prospect. Isn't everyone on this board freaking out about having to be so young next year and begging for transfers? What's the problem with bringing in a grad transfer at that position to give Mason the time to develop at his own pace? He'll still get a chance to play a quality role if he's ready for it.

Mac's job is to put together the best team he can. He can't not take a good player who wants to come to Creighton because Modestas Kancleris is on the roster, and that would be the case even without him coming off a torn ACL.

Don't underestimate Division II players, especially ones at a program like NWMSU. The best D-IIs would likely be able to beat a lot of low-major or low-end mid0major schools. Northwest Missouri State played two exhibition games against Duke during Hawkins' career.

As a freshman, they got blown out, but he scored 14 points on 5-7 FG (4-6 3FG) with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover and 1 steal in 14 minutes off the bench.

As a junior, the Bearcats gave the Blue Devils a scare, losing 69-63. Ryan had a tough shooting game (6-18 FG, 4-12 3FG) but was still second on the team with 16 points and added 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 turnovers and 1 steal while playing all 40 minutes.

FWIW, O'Connell was a combined 1-8 from the field for 2 points in 26 minutes in those two games.

Said it a bunch, would rather have a player who was real successful at a lower level than a flame out, 2 ppg player from Kansas or the like. Count me in the group excited that Hawkins may end up at CU.

Jays also need someone to get boards perhaps more than score points and he has shown he can do that. Small ball 5, stretch 4, big 3, who cares.
