Yeah, this is odd. I had always assumed the 'announcement' was just announcing the decision the player had already decided on. This delay makes it seem like he set a date ahead of time without ever coming to a solid decision.

Or maybe he's making the biggest decision in his young life so far and his decision (in his mind) has implications on whether he gets to the NBA someday or not.

Go to a school with final 4 aspirations that's never made it out of the first weekend and has a few decent NBA players, or go to one of the bluest of blue bloods which will likely be good next year as well.

I would hope all of us would struggle with the decision as well.

Watching fans get pissed because a high school kid is maybe struggling with the most important decision of his young life is embarrassing for them. Get a grip.

FWIW, he told reporters of his decision date around 11pm. Maybe he’s just a night owl. Kalkbrenner also committed around 11pm in September.

It might well be, but the source is not one that I can describe as “unbiased.” An actual reporter has credibility, this account is literally a UNC fan account. And, of course, one of their partisans could well right us off even if we’re still in it, or purposefully ignore us in this hunt.

To make things more complicated, George Mason grad transfer Justin Kier (6’4 Guard) is announcing tonight with a final 3 of Georgia, NC State, and Minnesota.

He seemed ready to commit before lunch yesterday and then went silent. Would have to think that benefits Minnesota most and then us. If Carolina is too far from home Creighton is a driveable distance and you still join a top 15 team rather than a Big Ten has been.
