On a lighter note, imagine the reaction if Carolina got turned down for CU. They already hate our guts and after last year their egos have to be beat to shit.

If they lost a recruit to us, someone hide all their guns.

Here is a snippet from an article from Monday April 20th from a North Carolina website:

Kerwin Walton, a 4-star shooting guard from Hopkins, Minnesota, will announce his decision on Saturday. His list of finalists includes Arizona, Creighton, Georgetown, Minnesota, North Carolina and Vanderbilt. Each of his half-dozen potential suitors are hoping to lock down another top-100 recruit to round out their incoming freshman class, but particularly one with the ability to hit long-range shots like Walton can.

And although Walton is best shooting the ball from beyond the three-point line, he can score from all three levels. He’s also got really good size for a guard. He’s a capable ball handler, and passes well for his position. He drives the lane well, has good court vision, and is a good on-ball defender. The Tar Heels, in particular, could use a player like that. Given his size and skill set, he could spend time at both the shooting guard position, and on the wing where North Carolina is a bit thin.

That’s a pretty good repertoire for one of the lone remaining uncommitted players left in the class, and a trio of Rivals recruiting analysts recently predicted where Walton would take those skills in the fall.

“As for Kerwin Walton – the best shooter left on the board – the best information that I can get from behind the scenes suggests that North Carolina, Arizona and Creighton are in the best position,” Eric Bossi states. “As of today, I’m sticking with my pick of North Carolina but it is really close with them and Arizona.”

His colleague, Dan McDonald, felt the same way, noting that North Carolina is the most likely destination for Walton. Corey Evans, however, picked Arizona as the program that secures Walton’s commitment this weekend, but also stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if Creighton or Minnesota did. Two other Rivals recruiting analysts, Russ Wood and Zach Berry, have also pegged UNC as Walton’s eventual college choice.

Well, tonight’s announcement can’t hurt our chances here. Really hope he sees the opportunity that opened up.

Kerwin just posted on his Instagram story #LockedIn. Hopefully that means he locked in his decision after Ty-Shon made it official tonight:
However he did post in UNC blue colors.

I just saw that too. He’s been using that hashtag for his recruitment and in that color for a couple weeks now. I thought the story was interesting since the Tyshon news just came out. The optimistic part of me is hoping it’s a subtle hint that he decided on Creighton!

Kerwin wants minutes. With Ty-Shon's departure, they are there for the taking at Creighton, much moreso than at North Carolina who has a bunch of other higher or similarly ranked recruits coming into the fold. Will he become a better player balling with a bunch of other talented, but green, freshmen who are all looking to be one-and-dones? Or - hear me out here - come to Creighton and play 25 minutes a game on an experienced, smart, Top 10 team. And then, next year, you become "the man" in the scoring column, playing alongside an All American caliber, senior point guard (if he stays) and an immensely talented front court (Bishop, Kalk, Epp), surrounded by other talented players and freshmen young guns in Hunter Sallis and Tamar Bates.

This script is just writing itself.

Let's hope he sees it that way.

The only slight change to your narrative is I think Hunter Sallis is a one and done and would probably be “the man” if he comes to CU, but being 1A on a top 10 team is really great. It would be the best team we have ever had!

Rivals article on Kerwin https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com ... e-g-league

“It is a complete guessing game at this point. Kerwin Walton, a four-star wing, is set to commit Saturday. He has been mum on his recruitment up until this point and selecting a clear favorite heading into his decision remains difficult.

His finalists remain Arizona, Creighton, Georgetown, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Back in the fall, I was fairly confident in my FutureCast in which it had Walton picking Arizona. That confidence has waned in recent weeks which has coincided with another scholarship opening up at UNC. Walton cut his school list and set a commitment date around the same time as UNC entered the picture.

Maybe it was just random timing, but if not, it would align with Walton picking UNC and recent whispers surrounding his recruitment have said just that. However, with how big of a mystery he has been, I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked Arizona, or even Creighton or Minnesota. For now, his recruitment remains a guessing game leading up to his commitment on Saturday“

New thread on the UNC board and their insider isn’t as confident anymore and thinks it’s down to us, Minnesota, Arizona, and North Carolina.
