Because of its football money, Bama's facilities for the athletes (dorms, training table (literally a 5 star restaurant), etc.) are far superior to anything CU can ever dream about. If that is high on his list of priorities, that's a big hurdle for us. The campus is beautiful and spacious. Their football money has been put to good use. Decent weather other than some days in December and January (if you don't mind rain), its academics are actually good (average ACT in the upper 20s, I believe, and average HS GPA around 3.75) - CU may have an advantage there if that's important, but its not as big a gap as some might think. Of course, it has an incredible football game day atmosphere. Its an hour drive to Birmingham if you want big city atmosphere nearby, 4 - 5 hour drive to the gulf coast, 4 hours to New Orleans, 4 hours to Nashville and 3 hours to Atlanta. There are some advantages there. It would be a big win, IMO, for the staff to land him over Bama.

As for basketball considerations, I tend to think John Petty will not be back. He's projected 2nd round or maybe undrafted. But, he's a junior and now has a baby to feed. He may determine its time to make some money - even if that means Europe if he doesn't get a contract with an NBA team. If Joshua is truly thinking one and done, I do think he has a better chance of getting the most playing time at Bama next, depending on what Petty and Lewis do at Bama and what TyShon and Davion do. Wouldn't surprise me if Primo waits to see who stays and who goes after the season before making up his mind. Hoping the proximity of most BE locations to his family will help carry the day.

I don't see too many people on this thread talking crap on Bama. Maybe 1? Have you ever been to Birmingham? It's not big city atmosphere at all. It's a nice city but it's pretty spread out. It's not really comparable to Toronto.

Staff needs to leverage the current success on the court into recruiting. Can’t keep coming in 2nd when we get recruits on campus, although I get what we are up against with big state schools like Alabama and shoe money. An NCAA run is critical! Can’t peak too early!

Not to divert the thread, but yes I have been there a number of times. I agree it is spread out, and never stated in any way that its comparable to Toronto. But, it does have pretty much everything Omaha has - including a seemingly always in process interstate reconstruction  Anyway, that was an aside response to the comment on Tuscaloosa being a hick town (although I do grant to whoever made the comment that outside of the campus area and small downtown, its not much).

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, IMO, if it would take TyShon leaving for the NBA to land a perhaps one and done freshman, then unless he is the next Zion, I would rather keep TyShon for next year. And, I'm not convinced he will be better than Antwann, who will also be looking for playing time next year. Joshua won't be the long-term answer either, if he really is looking to jump to the NBA in a year (or even two). So, unless he is prepared to bide his time developing next year with maybe 10 to 15 minutes per game, with a lot of potential time available the following year, and if he is looking to be one and done, my druthers is everyone (sans Kelvin, of course) is back next year and we add Antwann, JE and Ryan K. to the mix. I hope we get Joshua and I hope he looks at it as a 2-3 year process. But, not going to be too upset if we keep everyone and he goes to Bama because of that.

Agree with this. Based on reading the article about him reclassifying, it sounds like it is at least partially so that he will be eligible for the NBA draft in 2021 so I am not getting my hopes up that he would stay past year 1. If TyShon stays, then I would almost rather use the spot on a sit out transfer or on a guy like Kerwin Walton who needs to develop and would possibly redshirt.

Kerwin needs to redshirt and develop?

Wherever he goes, Walton is not redshirting.

Sorry I meant to say would be willing to spend a year developing without a ton of playing time as would be the case unless he is better than Antwann, Shareef, Windham and Mintz (if the latter two return).

I know this is off-topic but what is a "literal 5 star restaurant"? It has 5 stars on google? If their training table was granted one star by Michelin inspectors, that would be impressive enough

Primo would be an amazing get, he'd be a perfect fit for the current system but I think we need to chill on the whole one and done talk.

He had a good BWB camp, much like another Creighton priority, 2019's Tristan Enaruna. Much like Primo, Enaruna was a fairly well known prospect however, after BWB he became a top national player for the class, eventually landing at KU. He too was built up to be a one-and-done type talent. While he's had a solid freshman year at an elite program he's no one-and-done.
