I would prefer a 4-year guy over most grad transfers. Obviously, someone like Matt Mooney is the exception. But, I think a lot of the grad transfers are over-rated. Typically, they are guys who were decent at the mid-major level who try to move up. At a minimum, it takes a while for them to contribute, and even if they are okay, you only have them for one year. Krecklow was a solid contributor for us in a down year. Manny and Connor didn't contribute very much, and we will see about Jones. But, the competition for the higher-level grad transfers is much more intense than it was several years ago. So, are you better off holding an open scholarship for a grad transfer or taking a chance on developing say a 3-star recruit who might otherwise go to a mid-major?
