When I read Jon N's article about him last month, I did not get the vibe he'd be a 5 year college guy. Also, there's no guarantee he'd spend his 5th year here. He wants to make it to the NBA. His peers are in the NBA now. Plus, with the way things have gone the past few years, I would be shocked if the perpetually injured/thinned/undermanned Jays are done with the injury bug by Halloween. We somehow always need bodies by the end of January.

I say let it rip and get him in there.

A request such as this one is a long shot. There was no coach firing, family illness, or extenuating circumstances (that we know of).

Case in point: Quinerly left Nova to go to Alabama. Filed for waiver...NCAA said no. Appealed decision...NCAA said no. Very different case, but insufficient grounds to warrant granting a waiver. Does AJ have extenuating circumstances?

An extenuating circumstance can be deemed as a coach that is bringing in the top recruiting class in the country telling a kid at said school that he will not play there. So yes there is a chance but we will see

Definitely a long shot. The NCAA's decisions are random enough to make it worth while to appeal, but it's not too likely that he gets the waiver.

Jones definitely would have helped last night, but with Mintz coming back, Jefferson still hobbled, and Mahoney on the way we have a lot of other things that would have helped also

I think the difference is the Nova and Jay Wright didnt want him to leave. Creighton's argument is that Penny Hardaway told Antwann to leave Memphis, which if true puts him in a very good spot to get a waiver granted.

The issue for Creighton is that it there are so many waivers still to be decided that were submitted before Jones'. David Wingett got his waiver at SDSU after being run out at Memphis, so it seems like Jones would have a pretty decent case. But again, at last count there were close to 50 cases still to be decided. UNO and Nebraska are still waiting to hear back and their requests have been in for a while.

Rasheem Dunn just got cleared yesterday or the day before to play for St. Johns this season, so NCAA is still working on it, apparently. Hopefully, they get this done quickly.

If Jones is eligible, by all means play him. Kids don't stick around for 4 to 5 years anyway anymore.
