For some reason, this one doesn’t hurt (for me).

We still don't have an actual 4 on the roster. Jefferson, Ballock, and Mahoney are not real 4s and I'll keep banging this drum as long as necessary.
Even if you don't think Wur would have contributed next year, he'd fill that role over the course of the following few seasons. Now we're waiting for Mors. In 2021. It's just poor roster management.

And Wur wasn't going to be that 4 either - he's very thin and lacks strength and has expressly said he's a "Guard" and not a "Forward". I like him and wanted to land him, but it was more for his potential than for what he would be able to do this year.

At this point, he can't match up against BE 4's nearly as well as Mahoney, Jefferson, or even Ballock.

Going there to play for Altman. We’ll see if Dana is around his entire 4 or 5 years there. Dana is about 60 now and years ago It was said that he would stick around until about 60. Of course, minds are changed all the time so maybe he will stay with it we’ll beyond that time.

As was Patton when he came in. He still managed to play the 5 spot after his RS year.

So what? He's 6'9. That might be a wing in the NBA, but at the college level he's going to be played at the 4 spot at most schools. Maybe he can slide down to the 3 at Oregon, but I'd be surprised if they do since they're losing Kenny Wooten and Louis King. All they have left at the 5 is Okoro. Wur would be the next tallest player on the roster(!)
They are bringing in a couple of 6'8 forwards who could be better at the 5 spot, but the roster gets small after that pretty quick - like listed shorter than Ballock small. So if Wur doesn't redshirt there, he's likely going to be playing the 4 at Oregon by default.

Maybe, maybe not. But I did mention that

Not necessarily this upcoming one.
We have a hole at the 4 and it's not for just this next season, it's 2020-21, 21-22, etc.

Patton Sorta played the 5. He did it on offense, but was most effective with Hegner playing the 5 on D and him being on the weakside in the paint.

My point was more that he doesn't want to play forward, and to me that makes him a classic boom-bust guy. He could get it and be great, or he could be a guy who never quite gets it. I liked the potential a lot, but when you look at Murrell who we offered as this week, I see a guy who will need S&C, but has skills that will currently apply to the 4 or even the 5 spots for us pretty quickly. 20 lbs on his frame with his current skills makes him ready to play. He may be ready to play the 4 on a P5/BE team before Wur is ready.

Raw physical potential isn't all that matters. Especially for these guys who are coming in as projects, the mental attitude, work ethic, focus, etc. is just as important, as is the strength and conditioning. In that regard, people who watch local hoops a lot and know some of these kids know whether they are likely to have those intangibles or not much more than anything you can see on a highly selective "mixtape" of highlights against weak competition.

In light of those intangibles, I don't think you ever would have seen Wur contributing at Creighton as a four -- certainly not this coming year, but not likely at any point in the next several years. It will be interesting to see how he fares at Oregon.

Wish the best for the kid. Not the least bit disappointed that he's not coming here.
