Here are a couple more.

JacobPadilla wrote:That's a great story by Piv and I echo everything he wrote.

I watched one of his games on Saturday with a junior college coach, and the guy was blown away with the things Justin was doing at his height. He was reacting seemingly every other play, and this is a guy who has seen plenty of good basketball players. I'm really excited to see what Justin can become once the coaches can get their hands on him. And after being around him and his brother a lot this summer and fall, I'm really rooting for him personally too.

JacobPadilla wrote:Justin has a lot to learn (defensively, shot-selection) and a lot of work to do on his body (weight, obviously) before he's ready to make an impact at the college level. He hasn't been all that efficient, partly because he struggles to finish around the basket at times (which added strength should help take care of) and partly because he takes some bad shots (in large part due to the team around him). His guard play isn't particularly good (the best ones are football players) and he's trying to make the best of the situation. The nice thing is that with him being a few miles down the road from Creighton the coaches can easily keep in contact with him and guide him along in his development and hopefully prevent some bad habits from developing. There are a lot of things to like.

Jacob,

I don't think you have to justify your past opinions. Since my kids are now out of high school, I don't watch near as much HS basketball and summer ball as I did a few years back. My kids never played at the top level, but we were at a lot of the same tournaments and league venues and so I had watched a fair amount of some of the guys over the years. I did not always agree entirely with your assessment of some of the guys, but I know that you watch way more of them than I ever did even back then and I know your opinions are always well grounded. Now that I am no longer running around the summer basketball circuits or HS games, I rely much more on your thoughts and opinions on these guys. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your objective assessments and insights.

Jacob probably knows more about local hoops than all of us combined so his opinion is valid. For the record and with humility, Patton played just one year at CU with moderate success but disappeared in the NCAA Tourney which we were one and done in, I was at that game within hearing distance of CU's bench, he was a non-factor. Also, he has played roughly 3 to 4 games in the NBA at this point with no other team seemingly interested in Patton. Other than being a first round draft choice, he will hardly be remembered in the Annals of CU history and his future in the NBA is up in the air - most NBA teams don't release 22 year old 7 footers if they feel that they have potential regardless of injury, two teams have released Patton to date.

It's from an Iowa analyst. I saw on the 247 Oregon board analyst that he thought it would come down to us or Texas A&M.

Agree, I always look for Jacob's thoughts on players. The tough thing about evaluating players is that even the best coaches who did this for a living have hits and misses and sometimes you can be right, but the player still fails due to injury or things that nobody could have foreseen.

I love the insight and thoughts even when I might disagree (which isn't often)

No worries. All I remembered saying of the "brake-pumping" variety was that he needed a redshirt year, so I went back to look.
