I am curious as Wur seems to have come out of know where on the national level maybe Jacob knows, did Wur compete in AAU Basketball tourneys and camps over the last two years and if so how did he compete on the national level?

I've searched in vain for a thread that talked about him a few months ago. There was a report that we were looking at him and (I think) the center/pf from central (Tonje?). IIRC people were confused as to why we were looking at this guy --- Anyway, at the time I liked his film and potential. He's got a ton of potential as there just aren't that many guys who can move like that, who have some ability to play as a wing with some decent shooting and handling skills, and who are that tall and with that kind of wingspan. Our coaches saw that and had him in to take a longer look, and that was quite a while ago.

i'm hoping he wants to be a Jay. I love the potential and think he can help the roster pretty quickly, and his potential is is huge. We want a stretch 4 who can play on the wing and maintain spacing and who can match up defensively with a variety of players -- he could be that guy in a year or two....

Until shown otherwise, I'm convinced that nobody knows and evaluates the Omaha players better than the Creighton coaches

I think a small chance to be one but it’s a great get this late in the game.

Wur did come out of nowhere...he's been a unranked, non-qualifier for some time now. Just recently got over the mark to qualify for Div 1. No one has interest in non-quals except lower divisions and jucos. Wur is a project for sure: 6-8/9, 180, thinks he's a point guard. He has some talent, but evidently is not the top Neb talent either. Jacob or Neb HS Hoops could fill us in on that front. Schools are taking a shot, taking interest, to fill holes in their programs. Going to visit DA, then Hawaii? Hmmm.

I would imagine Lok has stars in his eyes, going from an afterthought to the center of attention. Dreams are made of such. Creighton has done and continues to do due diligence by offering, but Lok will probably go elsewhere with his newfound stardom. Move along...

One last thing... The score to be a Div 1 qualifier is one thing, but individual schools have their own requirements. Creighton admissions scores and a minimum qualifier score are not the same thing.

I have not seen a high profile recruit in one of our nationally competitive sports rejected by admissions. Check out ACT scores of past student athletes.

Just looked into this and found this article that mentions former Creighton basketball player Kevin Ross having to enroll in a Chicago grade school because he was still functionally illiterate after Creighton https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1989-01-22-8902270742-story.html

zmagic30, times and circumstances have changed over the 40 years since Kevin. Kevin is one of the reasons why basketball recruits and recruiting is held to a higher standard now. One of the reasons CU is particularly sensitive in recruit low score situations. thanks for the find...again.

Agreed, we are not doing a Kevin Ross situation again!

That said, we've been watching Wur for quite a while. We had him in for a workout a while back, and I'm sure a lot of what they talked about were the things we wanted to see in order to offer. Given our close ties here, I doubt we'd offer if we thought he'd have an issue getting admission right now.
