Agreed on all fronts.

He’s a 6’9 local kid who has an insane ceiling. You gotta at least offer him.

Why? Kid MIGHT have a high ceiling, but who knows if he'll ever reach it. I have also watched him in person numerous times and I'm not so sure his ceiling is all that high. So just because he's local and a handful of people who have seen his HIGHLIGHT reel think he would be amazing, the staff HAS to offer him? He might never contribute, but let's offer him because he's local. Sounds like a solid recruiting strategy.

You’ve watched him? Cool dude I’ve played against him and Shereef and Heiman and other top players around the state. I also help recruit for a D2 school that just had a class of 4 in-state prospects that contributed heavily. IMO, yes you offer him to keep the connections good and I believe Mac can develop him right. Local guys are motivated.

Since we all applaud Mac and the staffs ability for evaluating local talent, doesn't it say something that we haven't offered? People are watching his highlight reel, where he's the tallest kid on the court 95% of the time. Don't think he's a Big East talent

I’m just saying there’s not that big of a difference from watching in person versus a highlight video

Cool, sign him up for your D2 squad, and congrats that your local guys contribute heavily at the D2 level. Seriously, is that supposed to help your argument? I also watched Shereef , Khyri, and Justin alot and thought they COULD contribute at our level. I was also a HUGE fan of Tre'Shawn Thurman's and wanted him so badly. I watched a lot of Isaiah Poor Bear Chandler and did NOT want him at all, same with both the kids (Chang and Akinwole) from Papio a few years ago although I liked them both more than Chandler. I could go on and on and on if you want. We've got some decent HS players in this state, but it doesn't mean every one of them is going to be a good contributor for us and warrant a scholarship offer. I'm in the camp that isn't really sold on Hepburn. Seen him play a lot and LOVE his court vision, but not sure how much more he will improve. Hope he proves me wrong and earns an offer, but just not sold yet.

I don’t understand why all these other schools are offering him and we’re not when he’s in our own backyard. I guess I just think he has a high ceiling

Maybe because our staff has watched him play the last four years, and all these other schools just watched the highlight video? Or maybe our staff doesn't think he has a high ceiling.

Recruiting is pretty subjective. You clearly think he's worth offering. I don't. At the end of the day, it's up to the staff to figure out what they think, and then it's just wait and see who ended up being right. No real way of knowing right now who that will be. Like I said, if the staff ends up agreeing with you, I will hope he proves me wrong.

+1 Wales

Helmzy....UCLA offered Kobe Paras, but was he really that good at basketball, especially in our system? Don't get me wrong, I liked the kid and his social media following/buzz, and I loved his highlight film, but we were all (mostly) a little off about his abilities.
