Agree. Maybe we are making a mistake with Hepburn, but we've gotten every P5 level player from Omaha pretty much since Mac got here. We have great relationships with the local coaches and it certainly looks like we get every one of the top kids into a Creighton camp as well .. and we track and evaluate them from very early onward
Hoiberg's put together a good staff to recruit, and, again, maybe we've screwed up with Hepburn, but we don't know that right now, and who knows how well we've kept in touch and what the behind the scenes communication has been (has an offer been extended but not made public?, for instance). I'm sure we have kept in touch even with Preston likely gone.
Bottom line with NU and Creighton is that there isn't enough in-state talent to support 1 P5/BE level team, much less two. Our recruiting bases have to be a lot bigger and broader than that. That said, Omaha's very important to us, and we need to defend it.. I think we will .. like I said, we've build the relationships locally. We also have 2 NBA players to point to.
