shooting(albeit we have no shot doctor like McKenna was).defense, boxing out and even rebound smartness and anticipation. But you can't coach ball handling/dribbling,passing
carefully,or free throws frankly. These are more innate abilities and gifts like size, speed, and leaping. Until Creighton addresses that damn careless plaque of dumb and careless ball passing/dribbling,and even inbounds tosses, they will NEVER rise to anything top tier IMHO!
Where do people see that with DJ? Even when he was healthy, he's not a guy you give the ball to and say go get me a bucket in crunch time or against good teams. He's not.
I think it's purely based on his physical build and the potential it provides. He did show at times that he is physically big enough, strong enough, and capable of driving and getting to the hoop and long enough to have potential to finish strongly. He looks a lot like Khyri, frankly. He doesn't have the intangibles yet to go with that, but he seems like someone who could physically develop into that guy.
Heck last night even he did, in his very small amount of time on the floor, go baseline and take it to the rim and finish.
Davion and Tyshon have shown a desire and mindset to do it at times -- but they lack the size and length and physical ability to do it consistently. Davion has had some explosive dunks -- and a whole lot of swatted weak attempts. Tyshon has started to develop and show an ability when he has occasionally gone hard and gotten a layup at a key time and he tried out of nowhere to posterize somebody in the Memphis game (and missed when fouled) -- and he has a whole lot of swatted weak attempts and airball layup attempts when trying to avoid contact.
DJ just looks physically different and more capable, to me, of developing that part of the game.
