We could use a guard that can get to the rim.

This. Just because we have several players at a position doesn't mean there isn't a need. I think many over hype the "talent" on the roster at some spots.

which immediate impact transfer or high school is going to come in and steal minutes from our guys? We let alot of young guys play this season and they did good, at least in my eyes, considering where they were projected. For all the hype about grad transfers I don't think many would come in and average what they did at their former school. Cashaw was a shadow of his game at Rice, same with Welage at Xavier, Castlin at Xavier, Cremo at Nova, Joseph Chartouny at Marquette. I think the word is out that many of the low-mid major guys that grad transfer up are more role pieces than impact stars in most cases. Thinking a guy like Pierce can come in a displace any of the guys we have on our roster currently, average 30 mpg, 15 ppg and 7 rpg is ridiculous.

The need is depth.

If Martin leaves than the conversation changes completely.

This!

The “overhyped” talent on this team were freshmen and sophomores, who lost a bunch of games young teams lose and still made a late push for NCAA consideration. There isn’t a grad transfer that is going to (OR SHOULD!!) come in and steal minutes from our core of very talented young AND DEVELOPING players.

All year I watched Texas Tech and Matt Mooney play and wondered what would this squads potential look like in 2019-2020 if Mooney was here in 2018-2019. We probably would have won more games this year and might have snuck into the NCAAs. Pry dont make any noise tho. But TSA, Ballock and Mintz would have all seen a significantly less role at the 2, and maybe DM plays more at the 1 and Z doesnt grow. In hindsight I like the idea of allowing those players to grow, play minutes and fail at times, IF they learn from it.

IMO the teams late season success had more to do with Martin getting healthy and regaining form than anything else. There is nothing wrong with the players individually except how this roster is constructed. You may have success a game here or a game there with 4 guards hunting 3's without the ability to create their own shot, but nothing is sustainable without a true taller wing who can get tot he rim. We saw last night how easy it is to guard players who just chuck the ball around the three point line and a preview of life without Martin (potentially) in the second half. Neither of that will change without an influx of new players.

We need a guard who can get to the rim, consistently, as his biggest strength. A guard who’s biggest strength isn’t the 3 is ok.

Hilltop, will we have any interest in Kira Lewis or John Petty from Bama?

Lewis is a 6’3 freshmen who averaged 13 ppg, Petty is a 6’5 sophomore guard who averaged 10 and 4

You're right about Lewis. Duke, Tennessee, Memphis, Louisville, Arizona, UCONN, Miami, Baylor, Providence, Northwestern, Pitt, Nevada, Iowa St, Indiana, Georgia, TCU and Auburn. Nevermind

We need a lot more than just a 4, although we need one of those badly.

We need more guards that can put the ball on deck and finish at the rim.

We need to get taller across the board. I'm sick of being two inches shorter at every position on the floor.

We could use greater athleticism across the board.

We need more guys with ice water in their veins that want the ball at clutch time and can hit big shots.

We need greater consistency. We need more toughness.

With the exception of Z and Martin, everyone's starting spot should be up for grabs.
