Your psycho-analysis of teenagers is about as good as your political takes, that you cowardly refuse to defend with facts. It’s embarrassing. Post less.

Creighton invested a ton in Ronnie and he bailed at pay back time. Pure and simple. Could have been a valuable contributor. Got what he deserved.

Pay back time? What are you talking about. He left Omaha having fulfilled every obligation that the team asked of him during each year of his scholarship (remember that they are 1-year promises; scholarship offers are not guarantees for the next year for either the kid or the school) and, best of all, he left with a CU degree.

I don't get the animosity toward a 22-year-old kid who seized the opportunity to go back home and be/play with his family. In the few interactions that he had with my family and me, I always walked away with the impression that he was a great ambassador of our school. I remember him going out of his way after a practice, seeking out my then-toddler son and trying to lift him up so that he could dunk a basketball. And when Ronnie discovered he couldn't quite get my son to reach, he went across the court and pulled Patton over (away from Gus Johnson and the Fox guys who were in town and prepping for the game, no less) so that Patton could lift up my son. Ronnie made it his mission to make sure my kid had a memorable experience and he absolutely didn't have to do it. If you ever talked to the kid, you'd know how much his family means to him and how much he missed seeing his siblings while he was here.

If you're mad at him for leaving early, then I assume you carry the same anger toward Patton and Thomas. Or is it okay if a kid leaves early to get paid, but not if he leaves early for any other reason?

he didn't leave early.

he graduated.

should we not recruit other 5th years (or any transfer for that matter) because that's somehow shady and they haven't fulfilled some sort of 'obligation' to their original institution?

Kumbaya. Ronnie was a great dude. He was just lazy in the brain and a underachiever. That’s why he went to DU.

This thread is index bait... Every time I look at the index and see a new recruiting post - I get excited that good news is being shared irt
a recruit, new recruit, a committment, etc. Then I click the link and it's only another poster commenting in the Ronnie thread.
Please close this thread before I have a heart attack. ;)

I’m always fascinated by takes that are clearly from one perspective, and one perspective only - the tunnel-visioned basketball fan perspective. No regard for family, comfort level, wishes/dreams of the kid, fulfilled obligations, new opportunities, etc. It’s just “Me no like! This bad for my team, so the kid is <insert negative characteristic>.”

All the other post-grad (and other) transfers to come to Creighton were never questioned as being lazy or underachievers for leaving the universities they committed to. Because it benefitted Creighton, and for some, that’s the only way these situations can be measured. Unfortunate and kinda ignorant.

I have Vivid on ignore, for reasons any thinking person would understand, but, for once, I am glad he was quoted. He is absolutely right on this.

Give me a break. Don’t put words in my mouth. Ronnie was a nice guy but it was a battle with him since day 1 with effort and knowing the plays.
He didn’t want to be here chatter went on since his 1st year.
Oh, playing more minutes with DU, his assist and rebounds, shooting were lower than 2018, but his shooting attempts doubled for the 3rd place predicted Denver team that took dead last.
Won’t comment on Vivid’s other rambling, made up assumptions.
