LMAO! The baseball team can certainly use him!

If Locket did come to Omaha, that would create a big logjam at the 2/3 spot (Locket, Gibbs, Manigat, Jones, Dingman, Johnson, Zierden). It would be a nice problem to have, though.

Landing a transfer PG would probably be a better fit personnel-wise, but who knows if a quality PG will even be available?

I seriously doubt we even have to worry about having this kid here at CU. I'm sure he's a good player but the roster/rotation would never work next year with another SG.

If he wants to come to Omaha, I say we get a spot for him. He's an athletic 6'5 guard/wing. Our other guards dont have this size. He averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds (led ASU in both categories). He can also stroke it from 3 (41%). He has the size and athleticism at the guard/wing position we are missing right now. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Zierden redshirts. He can stroke it but his profile says he's 165 lbs. He needs to get bigger and stronger.

This is an excerpt from a scout on Lockett from last year (sounds like a guy we can use):
Standing somewhere between 6-4 and 6-5, Lockett has average size for an NBA shooting guard, but possesses a strong frame and very good athleticism. He is one of the most explosive players in the Pac-10, capable of blowing by opponents with an excellent first step and finishing above the rim in impressive fashion.

On an Arizona State that operated at one of the slowest tempos in the NCAA, Lockett played an important role as their best athlete and shot-creator. He is very aggressive looking to get to the basket, particularly in transition, but also in the half-court. He gets to the free throw line at a very solid rate in turn, and converts an excellent 54% of his 2-point attempts.

Not a particularly prolific outside shooter, just 11% of Lockett's field goal attempts came from beyond the arc last year, as he much preferred to drive to the basket using his quick first step, polished footwork and strong frame.

He shows the ability to drive and finish with either hand, and rarely looks out of control with his forays to the rim, sporting a positive assist to turnover ratio, a testament to his strong feel for the game. Nevertheless, he still has room to improve on his ball-handling ability and all-around polish, as he does not appear to be a finished product at this stage.

There is no doubt that he would be useful judging by these two highlights:

The original post described him as a shooting guard, he looks to be much more than just that. I'd say he could be a huge piece of next year's puzzle based on just those two plays and the descriptions about being able to get to the rim and create his own shot.

Technically, we only have one potential spot left.

If Lockett is interested in CU - he's a heck of a gift!
Biruta was looking at CU in the DA era... Is there still
Creighton interest or is that DA interest - meaning UO?

Can we possibly get BOTH players?
