Wondering what the Nike EYBL exploration will bring. It has already been hinted that "a rival company" of Adidas was bidding on the 2019 Kid and on Tugs among other recruits. Nike has the lions share of the so-called p5 schools (approx 68%), so perhaps they also have the greater percentile of illicit funding, as they control the majority of "elite" schools?
https://watchstadium.com/news/nike-domi ... 2-14-2017/ The above article is from February 17, so it doesn't account for UL's recent (July) UA deal of 10yrs/$160Mill. Of course since Russell Athletics has only 1 major school in Georgia Tech, they have to "try harder".
Furthermore...we know that Arizona was full up with the return of Trier and Alkins for 2017. Could another Nike school have been the "Rival" bidder on ol' Tugs, perhaps one of the other late entries in his sweepstakes? The Jays are not a big enough player nationally or contractually to be sponsored in bidding wars by Nike.
