Someone is getting paid on this deal. I hope it's him.

the idea that the coaches had anything to do with ian's decommitting is laughable. you don't push that talented of a player out the door two months after getting a verbal.

His social media was over the top, followed up by his social media silence, transfer from high school his senior year and now this. I wonder if there is more to the story. Is it possible the coaches started to question character and fit and mutually parted ways.

That's your first post?

Certainly a frustrating loss, this player looked like a phenomenal talent. I think as we are now competing for the best players in the country, we will have situations like this. I am sure there is much behind the scenes in major NCAA recruiting that is not above board, but thats life. Hopefully we benefit in the future when other kids de-commit and come to us.

I'm surprised that some of you are surprised.

A commit can be anywhere from... "yeah, I really want to go there and I'm not changing my mind for anything'... to... "WTH, you're the best offer I've gotten so far... so I'll commit until something better comes along... then Adios!!!!'

Making commitments these days are like making reservations at a restaurant.

Its surprising because this hasn't happened to the coaches in recent memory. The last decommits I remember are Ezra Talbert and Nick Norton - both having left because we'd started to upgrade our talent. It bucks the trend that's been set the past 2-3 years, that once a kid commits and buys into Creighton's vision they are rock solid. go_jays is still right in that VC's are becoming less binding/meaningful. I'd say its not nearly as common for a 70-90 rated player to do this sort of thing as opposed to a Tyger Campbell-type, however if Ian commits to a blue blood his nat'l rankings will probably skyrocket.

i was surprised by this, and i'm not surprised that others reacted similarly. this trend is something the coaches will have to deal with as we continue to recruit higher levels of talent.

I was most surprised because I have not seen a kid be as much of a cheerleader in social media tying to convince others to come to Creighton as Steere. To have him flip is head scratching.

Can you beleive the irony? NC State is an Adidas school. I am sure it's pure coincidence.
