guys at his level of 'sought after' - don't have to sign a LOI - he could sign a grant in aid instead and not be locked into a school and he could do that wherever he wants - and with as many schools as he wants

there are plenty of places where he could show up a few weeks before fall semester starts and there are schools that would figure out what they have to do (bump another player or whatever)

i'm not saying creighton would do that - and frankly - i hope we wouldn't dump someone to get Tugs in such a scenario

but - i think that is the new reality for the true elite recruits

I have to confess, I'm not acquainted with that strategy. Can you cite any recent examples?

I disagree with blaming the player for this. It's a system problem that the adults should fix.

To show that the system needs fixing, the No. 1 overall college basketball prospect (Michael Porter, Jr.) was just released from his commitment at Washington, which had hired his father as an assistant coach. Now his father is looking to get a job at Missouri, which may be the leader in the clubhouse to land Porter. This seems to be a thing now. I don't like it, but I don't blame the player as much as I do the adults/system.

Didn't mean to cause the thread to get side-tracked.

Gtmo would have no problem transferring a scholly to Tugs and telling a current scholarship player to walk-on.

KenPom speculates that Trier, Alkins, and Simmons will all be back at Arizona. Not so sure about that myself, but if it happens there's not much room there for Tugs to play.

*Edit: Just realizing he'd have to sit out next year so it wouldn't totally affect Tug's decision if he truly plans on one-and-done.

At this point Creighton fans should be paying close attention to what Alonzo Trier and Kobi Simmons do moving forward, specifically Trier. He had a great PAC-12 tournament and was good in spurts last night, but showed some glaring weaknesses down the stretch and wasn't playing great D. If he returns to Arizona and JP comes to Creighton I'd bet Tugs is a Jay

I think it more matters if Trier, Simmons and Alkins return. Not sure Bowen is too worried about another PF/C entering Arizona's program.

I don't think it has any effect. At 6'10" Chase would play a 4 or a 5 for AU and Tugs would be looking at the 3. For us Tugs would play a 3 or a 4 but when Tugs played the 4 it would essentially be a lineup of a 5 (if we have any) a 1 and 3 wings.
