Nice article touting him for conference player of the year (which he won): http://www.nycbuckets.com/2016/02/cane- ... e-nec-poy/

He was the first player in almost 25 years to win the award as a sophomore.
"But I truly care about Creighton and the fans and what they've done for me the last three years. I want to give them one more year and take care of business in the Big East so we can prove people wrong.'' ---- Doug McDermott

Really hope this isn't a sign of the staff not being sure of Davion's potential. He'd have to sit out as well, correct?

I would imagine its based on their opinion of our current roster.

Hypothetically, if we land him, does that stop our search in the transfer market for this offseason?

I thought Cane's 44.5% from the field was very good for a perimeter player, and one scoring at such a high volume. I thought it was especially good considering he took 7 3's per game and only made 31% of them. There are some red flags such as his negative assist-turnover margin and his incredibly small stature. You say, well Mo is even shorter. Mo is shredded. This guy is 2 inches taller but 20 pounds lighter - he is really really small. And second, Mo wasn't ever a score-first guard for us this year. I'm not sure if a guy with 4 turnovers per game in the NEC can convincingly play point guard for Mac.

When Cane becomes eligible, we have Davion and Marcus as our projected starting 1 and 2. Marcus likely will see some time playing at point guard, and Jr. Khyri Thomas and Fr. Ty-shon will also see time at the 2. From a minutes standpoint, I don't know what the coaches can promise Cane. He would almost certainly have to play point guard for us. Only way he could see any amount of minutes at off-guard was if Ty-shon redshirted.

If Cane came, he would most definitely play PG and probably share duties w/Mintz. Foster would play the 2 along with Alexander and Ballock/Thomas would play the 3. We are gonna need a PG for 2017 so it's either gonna be a freshmen 2017 PG or a transfer like Cane. My biggest worry about Cane is he is a shoot first PG. It might have to do with his team but in 2017, having Cane and Foster as both being shoot first type of players might be problematic....
