Good game to add on the schedule. UT-Martin finished top of the west division for the Ohio Valley conference at 20-15 (10-6) overall. Looks like they do lose two of their four top scorers (all four were double digit in PPG). The two returning double digit scorers are at 6-0" and under.

Now let's help Barry out and get SIU on the schedule.

Just thinking aloud here (on a text version). We'll have:

Longwood
UT-Martin
@Nebraska
@Arizona State

Virgin Islands tournament:
vs. pot. (Ole Miss, St. Joe, NC State, Loyola-CHI, Montana, Wash St., Oral Roberts)
How many games do we play as part of this? 3?

How many games does that leave us to schedule?

It would be nice to get a statement game. Because so far the best team we could potentially play is probably St. Joe's?

I'd be fine playing Judas Priest.

Judas Priest probably will have a better RPI than UT Martin.
And they have a better band at least.

Speaking of which, I saw this last week and it changed my life.

For the Paradise Jam or any of these MTE/Tournaments you can play up to 4 games that count as 1 game on the schedule. With the Paradise Jam as a bracketed tournament, that has 3 games. A potential 4th game could be scheduled with one of the other teams in the tourney in a non-bracketed game if they agree and within (I think) 10 days before or after the tournament is played. In a lot of cases teams use that game could be a start of a H/H series. As an example, Marquette/Arizona St. did that a couple years ago as a part of the Wooden Legacy where they played each other in a non-bracket game at Arizona St. which didn't count against their schedule, but then played each other at Marquette the following year as one of their games on their non-conference schedule.

Providence and Boston College did that last year so they could still play that rivalry game, but didn't count against their schedule last year because both were involved in the same tournament and made it the 4th game.

That being said, I'm not sure if there is interest in a 4th game from the Paradise Jam pool since Creighton has played these teams in the recent past (Ole Miss, St. Joe's, Loyola) or would be a buy game (Montana & Oral Roberts)

I think NC State H/H series or Montana buy game would be the only beneficial ones. But going all the way to NC State for a non-conference game would probably throw a wrench into travel scheduling.

I'd like to see us get UNLV for H/H series. Jays fans would travel to Vegas and they're always decent at worst.

If you read the Paradise Jam site ( or was it elsewhere?) it states tha you get 3 games but only counts as 2 toward your scheduling max of 29 games.

If I read that right the Jays have only 5 more spots to fill in the schedule and they better all be at home.

No, pretty much all the Multi-Team Events/Exempt tournaments only count as 1 game on the schedule. There are some non-exempt 4-team tournaments that count as 2 games, but there are only a few of those out there.

You can schedule 27 games + 1 MTE/Exempt event or 29 games and no MTE/Exempt event.

So in Creighton's case, 18 Big East games, 4 games we are aware of so far, 1 Exempt event. You are correct though that there are 5 games left to be known for the schedule for 2016-17. I would hope they are all at home and at least 2-3 being against top conference competition.

You've lost me. If the MTE only counts as one game, why can you only schedule 27 games + an MTE (which would be "28" total), but if you don't do an MTE you can do 29 games. Isn't that the same as saying the MTE counts as two games ("29" total either way)??
