For sure a rebuilding season.

I totally agree on LJ - free LJ. Athleticism is what we sorely need. Need someone to mix it up inside and take two point shots instead of having 4 guys camping outside and all 4 taking threes most of the time, and Kalk inside having bad passes made to him now that we playing serious teams.

The first point is cherry picking, yes we don’t have an outright BE title but we have a shared one where it resulted in us being the number 1 seed in the conference tourney

This. Way too many accomplishments outweigh those faults, and he’s definitely on an upward trajectory still. Let’s see what happens when we get Ash and Fedor in there.
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

What happened with him? Heard nothing but great stuff about LJ in camp.

Merf said on the BJB podcast before the season that he had a long ways to go in acclimating to our system. I recall no more specific detail than that.

Then his DNP in both the ISU and Purdue games confirmed he was nowhere close to the rotation. But I don't know if the reported injury was also a factor.

The fact we started a borderline top-150 true freshman point guard shows how lopsided the roster is. Jacob has said it numerous times that we are overloaded with frontcourt players, and right now two of them are basically unplayable against quality opponents. Our best bench player backs up our MVP.

This version of the team (no Ash) is pretty bad. Like, wrong side of the bubble bad. With Ash, maybe a 7-9 seed? With Fedor remains to be seen. But we sure are paper thin at guard.

That’s Interesting because the last two games it didn’t look like anyone was acclimated to our system.

LJ was not on the bench or visible today. Read into what you will. I do know team is fighting illness

Do remember how long it usually takes for transfer or generally first year players to adjust to our system. Everyone was ready to send Ashworth a ticket back to Utah last year. I liked the minutes Davis gave us. His passes were really good, and he went to the right spots to get the defender on to him before he passed. That is unusual for first year players. I like his height too.
Shooting is contagious, just as hitting is for baseball. It's a long season and we still have plenty of chances to get some out of conference wins. We may need them because our BE mates are struggling to finish their own games.

We are simply not a good basketball team. I don't know what happened to the team that played Purdue and Iowa St but that team, even before the Nebraska debacle, wasn't playing up to par.

The three point shooters aren't. There is no mid range threat. And now that Kalk has been neutralized, there are no options especially since Ashworth is out.
