I don’t have a problem with this outcome.

So, it happened…we are in a position where we need to turn over every rock there is. Did anyone read the Sportsline article where coaches are saying the B12 and SEC are spending northwards of 6M a year on men’s hoops?

I’d rather take a chance at closing the gap and whiffing than missing out. This is all real time stuff, to say it was myopic at this point ignores that.

You should be more clear. This was an alert about the schedule page being changed, not an official email.

It is back on with the official details. So the tourney appears to still be on. This was all a bunch of overreaction.

Yeah this thread is super confusing. SI reported on the confirmed schedule as of 16 hours ago.

I got that too, and I *think* what happened is they temporarily removed the games from the calendar while waiting for TV details and tip times to come out today, perhaps by accident. It triggered an update to the RSS feed and emailed people subscribed to it about a change (if they had notifications turned on).

In any event, per a 9:00am press release from Creighton, the tourney is very much on. SDSU game is on TBS, Texas A&M game is streaming exclusive on Max, Oregon game is on TNT.

is the other side of the bracket gone? Notre Dame, Houston and Bama aren't listed.

They're still there. Those four teams are in something called the "Impact Tournament"; Creighton is in the "Power Tournament." They're all listed at the bottom of the press release now. Seems like the whole thing is a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants operation. Like a Maury Hanks tourney with (allegedly) more money.

the opportunity for athletes on each participating team to engage in more than $1 million in NIL opportunities outside of competition

This sounds like what they write on the publishers clearing house letters...

At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.
