Big win for the poverty Big East as Nova beats #14 Cincy pretty handily. The conference could use about 9 or 10 wins in this Battle.

Providence is handling BYU and their big man Egor Demin, the "freshman from Russia who's played against professionals in Europe", in the words of Dickey Simpkins. Egor starts for them, averages 30 min and 14/6, and his last "school" acc. to his bio page was "Real Madrid". You know, where Fedor played last season. But, while Fedor sits, Egor plays, and Dickey tells us all about his Europro exploits.

To be fair, he only played a single game with their A team. Most of his games were with their youth development team. Obviously means Fedor's eligibility process will take longer, but theoretically should also mean Fedor can play at a much higher level than Egor.

He barely played in one game for Real Madrid's main team. The rest of his games (which is only 16 of them) were all for the U18 Real Madrid squad. He's also 18.

Fedor is 21 with 237 games played for actual pro teams plus another 21 for U18 teams.

Real Madrid under 18 is an "actual pro team". He played in the RM program for three years, and had a six-year contract with them, unless wikipedia is wrong, and it's never wrong about anything, as we all know. Dickey says Demin has been playing against professionals in Europe. Sounds about right, since Demin was one himself. If the NCAA has some criteria about Euro pros age, or level of pro experience, or games played, it'd be nice if they'd at least let the schools know. If Zugic was on the wrong side of all that to begin with, it would have saved Creighton a lot of trouble to know it. But, the truth is (apparently anyway), the NCAA is just making it up as they go. They're building an airplane at the same time they're flying it.

It's a pro organization, but I think there's a difference between the "B" team and the senior squad. The developmental team plays at a lower level over there.

Said it before, but the closest comp for Fedor is the big guy at Illinois. He played 169 games for senior clubs and another 21 for developmental teams, and he's also 21. He lost a year of eligibility but was given the go-ahead to play after making a financial repayment to charity.

What we don't know is the level of compensation involved for the various foreign pro players who have gotten eligible, nor do we know the timeline for submitting cases and appeals. I do think how late the Fedor development happened is what's hurt Creighton most (in addition to how many pro games he's played).

The NCAA is absolutely making it up as they go because guys like this have never tried to play college basketball until the NCAA began losing every lawsuit thrown its way.

Bryce Hopkins played his first game since being injured. He had 16 and PC beat BYU easily.
