2015 JuCo G Malique Trent (TCU Commit)

Postby Oldfan » Mon Jan 19, 2015 9:39 pm

6'2" JUCO Freshman was apparently offered today. Sounds like he was highly recruited out of HS, didn't have the grades and Norfolk State Prop 48'd him; he didn't get the grades and went to JUCO this year. I think he'll have 3 years of eligiblity left. Any of the recruiting gurus have more info on him?

We must recruit big and athletic guards who can penetrate dish and shoot. I'm sure any team in the Big East or power 5 conference would have the same type of guard on their list. Malique looks like he could fit this description.

I was looking at his stats. Averages 14.7 points/game. Shooting over 40% from 3. Left handed. Looked good off the bounce in his high school highlights. Jucorecruiting will rank their top 100 in Feb sometime. New Mexico JC is a pretty strong program.

Where there is smoke there is fire. The need for an athletic, good sized guard has been made a priority for the last scholarship. This makes me confident we'll find someone to fit that role on the team for next year.

Is 6'2" a "big guard"? Or is he Ben Walker "big"?

Same program that produced Desmond Lee, wasn't it?

He looks pretty thick in the highlight reel I saw.

Yes it is. I also saw on Twitter where a couple of other guys on NM JC roster were attracting high major interest.

247, ESPN, rivals list him as 6'2", 185.
Big guard? Not Ben Walker 'big', nor Ronnie Harrell or Amir Coffey big, but he is athletic. Hmmm.

Is this a recruiting backup to Kyrie type of move?

6'2 is pretty a pedestrian height for a Big East SG, but with Harrell and Huff, I'm not sure we'll necessarily need length on the wings next year as much as we'll need a slasher. Hopefully, Mr. Trent fits that description.
