Andrew Rohde - Virginia (Heard there was a paid board that said Rohde was a pretty much done deal to CU. Don't know why you'd pay money for that one lol)
Then there is a new target that has emerged with high mutual interest. Former 5 star. My crystal ball for him is Creighton at the moment.
Just a prediction...

Rohde should be announcing today...

This may be an unpopular opinion, but if Creighton loses out on Rohde, I won’t be overly disappointed. Everyone (including myself) was quick to comment on Taran Armstrong’s poor shooting abilities (30.5% 3PT, 44.8% overall), but Rohde wasn’t much better (32% 3PT, 44.8% overall), albeit younger. And while some of his volume was likely because he was St. Thomas’s offense, Rohde took 422 shots last year in 31 games. For reference, Creighton’s leading shot taker on last year’s team was Baylor who put up 380 shots in 37 games. I think Rohde will develop into an exceptional player and Mac would likely find a way to incorporate him into our team-oriented offensive system, but I’m not sure a volume shooter is what Creighton needs at this point (given most/everyone comes back).

Rohde would still make sense if Trey does not return. That's a big if. I would imagine our staff's pitch became much harder when Scheierman announced his return.

But yeah, he's another finesse player on a team chock full of them. I really think his shooting will improve. TSA, Mitch, Zeg, and R2 all had a similar percentage as freshmen. But I don't think we need another shooter if Trey returns.

Difficult position for the coaches and I wouldn't blame Rohde for going elsewhere if there's a more solidified role waiting for him.

Rohde officially to Virginia. We can move on now . . .

We'd be recruiting him for his size, defense, and rebounding potential. All things that this team could really use from the guard/wing slot. Just not sure how the coaches will pitch him considering playing time will be competitive.

He's not a good 3 PT shooter, but he's very efficient from 2 PT range and even with the 3pt shooting problems, he has put up solid TS%'s the past couple of years .605 and .548 (by comparison he would have been between Baylor .568 and Nembhard at .543 last year) and his career of .573 is just behind Trey's .578 last year. His usage rate was really low the last 2 years at Zaga - was he passing up shots? just not a good fit for their system? Too many shooters with him?

But, as Ethanfor3 says, that's what we're missing on the roster. We can really use someone of that size and athleticism to help give us size and versatility when Trey's not on the floor

You're right, though, minutes will be very competitive

He definitely needs to improve his 3-point shot and polish up his handles, but he was essentially told that unless he had a wide open lane to the basket, his job on offense was to move the ball and/or get it to Timme. I really have no idea what to expect from him from an offensive standpoint next season. There was certainly more to work with for him coming out f high school than he showed at Gonzaga, but he also needed to polish up some things in order for what he did in high school to translate to high-level college ball.

If I've said it once, I've said it, I don't know, at least twice. Around the basket, high-school Sallis was the most creative, twistiest, most bendable, most pliable guy I've ever seen. Assuming he's at least still in the Finals.

Hunter Sallis is Gumby, dammit.

On 1620 this morning, Gary Sharpe said it sounds like Javian McCollum will pick Oklahoma. He also said he was surprised Trelly did not sign with NU during his visit last weekend. That led to a discussion about who NU's point guard will be next year.

While I believe the best version of our team next year is with Arthur Kaluma back, it seems the consensus believes he will leave for NBA/transfer. If he leaves, are there any players you’d like to see Creighton target, or would you be happy with the current guys to fill his role (Traudt/Miller)?

At the risk of sounding like an Arizona coach, I’d be curious if we could pull Tucker Devries away from Drake. I’m not sure what else he has to accomplish in the Valley - he’s won MVC Freshman of the Year, All-MVC Second Team, MVC Larry Bird Player of the Year, All-MVC First Team, MVC Tournament Outstanding Player, and a MVC Conference Tournament Championship. At 6’7” 210 lbs, he would be slightly undersized as a PF, but isn’t too far off of Kaluma’s 6’7” 225lbs. As far as the conference, I’m not sure the additions of Belmont, UIC, and Murray St make up for the recent loss of Loyola and less recent losses of Wichita St and us. And after his disappointing shooting in the NCAA Tourney, I’m curious what he would be able to do against consistent high levels of competition - a question I think a lot of NBA scouts will have as well and something he could prove throughout a Big East season.

I'd prefer Art stayed, but Traudt/Miller/Green is more than good enough. Baylor could always slide over to 4 in a small lineup too.

And I doubt Tucker would leave his dad tbh.

If Art or Trey leaves (which I hope doesn’t happen) I would love to see us pick up Sallis. Obviously, he is not a direct replacement for Art but you could for example start with a small ball lineup with Baylor at the 4 and then play bigger after the first substitution. We have lots of 4’s. We don’t have athletic 2’s beyond Trey. We have better shooters this year also: so we could develop Hunter as a shooter but it would be good to have an athletic defender and slasher on offense.

I know many of you might disagree.

I hope Art doesn't leave but if he does Miller/Traudt will be capable.
