One of the limitations to ESPN is that they do some sort of overall evaluation and then appear to base the class on how high all of the rankings are in the class. They don't appear to do a lot of thinking about scheme and system and fit. Nor do they do a great job of midwest rankings in general. If you get kids from the hotbeds of the east or west, you know everything about them. If they are in the midwest or off the beaten path, not a lot.
Hanson is a clear example. We landed him pretty early, but he had some major offers across the country, but they were dependent upon who had evaluated and offered him. Fortunately we got our commitment early or I think we would have had much bigger competition.
As it was, he had a Gonzaga, Missouri, AZ State, and Nebraska offers, but ESPN didn't bother to watch some film and give him a grade???
Beyond that it looks like they gave Harris is grade before doing his scouting report (the two don't appear to match -- 67 grade and this comment in the scouting report "Harris is hands down one of the best shooters in his class. He's a player that's 6-foot-6 with great length and athleticism. He can create space for his shot off the dribble or knock them down in a catch-and-shoot....In our opinion, Darian is one of the bigger sleeper's in the class. He has all the tools to be great if he puts it together. A terrific get for Creighton"
Anyway, I'm happy with the last two classes as they appear to be the kind of classes that will keep us in the running talent-wise and able to run our scheme effectively.
