What a thoughtful response. You make Waylon and his infinite number of links look like the bastion of intellectual prowess.
When do we get to talk about the actual elephant in the room? That recruiting has been pretty bad since the 2018 class and at present there is no reason to think it'll improve, especially if one of our assistant coaches is still MIA.
So ... for one year?
LOL, exactly. We missed on one high profile guy, but we landed 2 guys that we liked and added in two quality transfers. We have an open slot, but we had about the youngest team in the BE last year. It's hard to get high end people to come to a team where they aren't likely to find ready minutes, and we really don't have a lot of minutes available next year.
As it, I like the guys we got:
- Mitchell's looking like a guy who will add a different style and defensive capability to the team this year
- Windham's a good prospect IMO and a versatile guy who could surprise us in another year
- Jones and Jones are GREAT transfers for us
- Kelvin's a big, mobile and physical guy who will adjust well to our system in addition to giving us much better depth in addition to Bishop and Epperson
- Antwann's the kind of player we'd be jumping up and down for joy about if we got him out of HS. In some ways, it's an advantage that he sits this year as we have Ballock and Alexander and Mintz, and Jefferson and Mahoney already filling up minutes on the wing spots.
So, despite missing on a high profile guy, I have no real issues with this class. How many bigs could have jumped in front of Epperson? How many freshman bigs are more ready than Jones? How many wings/guards would be able to get real time with our current roster?
In that context, I'm very happy with this class.
Oh, and we have a mid year transfer slot available also...
