I love Creighton as much as anyone, but it's unlikely that the answer to that question changes much in 10 years.

The whole "I want players who want to be here" idea is funny to me. On some level, if a player ends up here, he wanted to be here. I'd be willing to bet that if a top flight school like Kentucky or Duke was offering Doug or Kyle, we'd have never seen them as Bluejays; it's hard to imagine someone picking Creighton over one of those schools. If Mulder ended up here, it would be in part because he didn't get an offer from Kentucky, which is how we also got every other player in recent memory. That doesn't mean no one "wanted" to be here.

Yes and that's part of my point. If he doesn't want to be here, he won't end up here. So why waste so much time and energy on him when ot seems clear he wants to play for a big time school?

Very well stated.

Since we want to continue climbing the ladder of program status, and get closer to being one of those "big time schools" we are referencing, I don't think we ever give up on a recruit until he tells us "no." If we really like the kid, and he's still a possibility, I think it's an effective allocation of resources to keep trying. Those efforts on the front end with Marcus Foster - even though he selected K-State - paid off in the end. Who knows, right? And, let's give Coach Mac and the staff a little bit of credit. If they thought this was a lost cause, they would not be wasting their time.

I'm just saying, from the outside looking in, it has looked like a lost cause for a long while now. I will be more than willing to eat my words if Mulder comes here.

Maybe you are correct, but if the staff believes Mulder can be a difference maker than they should be making every effort they can to get him; even if it is a bit of a longshot.

Yeah, I agree with Lifer.

And I don't think we'll get Mulder, but if UK doesn't want him, I'd be more than happy to be his second/third/fourth choice if it means he's a Jay.

This was a good effort by us and one that made a lot of sense. The team that should feel burned here is Wichita State. they had him ready to sign in the fall, but his JUCO coach wouldn't let him. So he sticks around, we get interested, Louisville takes a look, Minnesota gets interested, then Kentucky and Indiana pop into the party.

In general, the fall signing period is our friend! but I do think we would have had a really good shot at him if Kentucky hadn't offered.

The advice some of these kids get from coaches, friends or even family these days is really appalling. I'm not saying it's in play here, but all of these kids are being sold a bill of goods that they will play in the NBA and there is only one path...the "Blueblood" one. Over 75% of college basketball players think they will be playing professional basketball. So, what you're seeing is an influx of talent (or should I say, "surplus?") at schools like Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, etc, etc. Talented kids that would be stars and have all the playing time in the world at a school like Creighton, Butler, Marquette, etc. Instead, they sit as a 12th or 13th man on the bench at Kentucky. The reason why the amount of transfers are so obscene these days has A LOT to do with that. Well, I got news for ya kid, being a 12th man on the bench at Kentucky is not going to get you into the NBA. However, being the number 1 or number 2 at Creighton just might.

Normally I may tend to agree with this, but I am not sure it applies in Mulder's case. There is no doubt his Juco coaches, who are UK alums, want him at uk. However, in a bit of really hard luck for us, Calipari has really struck out on the recruiting front this spring. All of the 5 stars he usually signs are choosing other schools -- I guess the much ballyhooed platoon system that Cal utilized last year isn't as wildly popular as Cal said it was.
