Agree that it's not for all coaches, and not required. Back in the day when they had to sit and develop was probably more Mac's speed. But inserting a ready made player in Hawkins and Scheierman the last couple years has made a big difference.

I think Mac's preference is around developing younger guys, but he's been very willing to use the transfer window to pick up guys who add to the roster. I think sometimes that is just to add the depth/backup big man to the roster, but more often than not, it's to find mature guys who have shown they can shoot in D1 ball (even if not high majors)

Wrightsell Jr. kind of fits that last model - he's around 30 lbs bigger than he was in HS, and has a pretty good range of skills in passing and 3 PT shooting. If his defense fits the package I can see us being interested

As for the roster, I think a lot of the core will be back (or so I hope), but it's also unusual for everyone to come back. I suspect we'll have room for at least 1 transfer, and maybe 2

Is this based on some inside scoop or just a guess? I can see a couple of departures; but it is just my guess.

For what it is worth, I see Jalen Courtney-Williams follows John Tonje (Colorado State/Omaha Central). Tonje put up nice numbers this year.

I’d take Tonje in a heartbeat. 6’5 dude that can dunk on your mother and has a strap.

Latrell in the portal. Would be a lovely 6th man option. Come in and get buckets.

Wrightsell Jr. earned All-Big West First Team accolades after leading the Titans in scoring with 16.3 points per game in the regular season, good for fifth in the conference. He also led the team with 2.4 assists per contest and 1.5 steals per game. The Omaha, Nebraska, native shot 42.9% from the floor, including 39.9% from distance, averaging 2.48 three-pointers per game. He also finished the season as an 83.5% free-throw shooter.
