On Creighton: “I really like their run and gun playing style and they are building something pretty special in Omaha. They’ve already got Denzel Mahoney and Ty-Shon Alexander in this Draft, (Damien) Jefferson will be gone and of course Mitchell Ballock, he’s from here I talk to him all the time. They are in a position of having four guards gone too and will have a need for a freshman to be able to come in and play.”

Interesting what he said about Denzel. Not going to read too much into it. At the end of this article it said something about a possible team up with Hunter Sallis “if it makes sense”..... well, it’d make a lot of sense for them to team up in Omaha!

It would definitely be a good fit. Bates has been one of my favorite recruits for that year. He's got a really well rounded game, can handle and pass, plays D, is long, gets to the basket and can shoot. Just a great fit for him and for us, IMO

Sallis, Devries and Bates to CU would arguably be the best class in program history. I think it's realistic (but not likely) too. Sallis and Devries are very close, having played together for quite a few years now. With those strong Omaha ties, I could see them as a package deal coming to Creighton and bringing Bates - who's been playing with them too - along.

It's an ambitious dream but how exciting would that be?

“ Bossi's take: Bates is a kid who is from Kansas City (Kansas) and spent his first three years of high school about a half hour from my house. I've seen him a lot and talked to him a lot. In fact, I just ran a pretty detailed update on him last week. I currently have a Futurecast in for Kansas to land the high-scoring guard, but I don't think it is anything close to a done deal. Alabama, Creighton, Missouri and Texas are just a few of those with a real chance, and I'd bet that Bates takes plenty of time with his decision.”
