I’ll trust the staff, but as a fan, I wouldn’t be excited about this addition. If Denzel leaves, what this roster needs is someone else who can score the basketball. Denzel was likely to be the Jays’ second leading scorer this upcoming season. This late, I wonder if there is any impact player to be added that can play right away. And I wonder if a Denzel departure causes a change in thinking of O’Connell’s redshirt year, assuming a waiver would be an option.

It makes me a little nauseous going from a Top 3 team to a Top 10-15 team (after Ty-Shon leaves) to a potential fringe Top 25 team (if Denzel leaves). Gross.

I mean, that’s not the only reason some have speculated Denzel leaving. Nyatawa and DeMarinis discuss his decision in this podcast, starting around the hour and 5 minute mark. Matt basically says he wouldn’t be surprised if Denzel leaves and could see several reasons why.

This makes sense if Denzel wasnt coming back. You can move Bishop to the 4. If Mahoney stays, playing time would be tough to come by for everyone.
