Seems like we can give some credit to Kalk and the coaches development of him. 13.8 mpg as a freshman backup to Big East defensive player of the year as a sophomore (and so much more than that, to be fair).

Definitely a happy Friday.

And honestly, Kalk should have been 2nd team BE at the very least last year.

This is a great addition - King is going to be very, very good. OWH said he was 18, but I read that he was going to still be 17 when enrolling this fall.

This is obviously a huge get for depth purposes, but I really feel like this will improve Kalkbrenner's game as well. He'll have a solid true 5 to battle with in practice. Since Kalk joined the program, he's really only had a hobbled Epperson and Feazell to practice against. Love the idea of iron sharpening iron here.

true, and we really didn't want to play Kalk as many minutes as we did at times last year. It was pretty awesome that he could play that many minutes, but it really slowed him (and adjusted our defensive strategy a bit as well to not have him run as much as we liked to).

something to remember is that Kalkbrenner came in with some really good defensive fundamentals (his HS coaching had been very good), and then the coaches took it to an entirely different level last year. King hasn't played as much basketball, yet, but his progress should be really good, and Mac is something else when it comes to teaching post players footwork and positioning without fouling

AWESOME!!!!!!
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

King had excellent coaches this last 1.5 yrs while at the NBA Academy, where he went from totally unknown to
being recruited by Louisville, Creighton, and others. He has built a solid foundation while in Mexico and should be a real joy
for our staff to work with.
