Minnesota reporter, Darren Wolfson:

“Talked to Kerwin Walton's dad. No decision is final yet, w/ announcement coming Sat. They had great Zoom meetings w/ #Gophers + UNC in recent days, may have one w/ G'Town Thurs. They have the book on AZ. Factors weighing, still, include COVID-19's potential impact on next season.”

Responding to a question about whether “Creighton can land him”:

“I didn't get a strong vibe on that from talking to dad. But they did come up. They certainly haven't been eliminated.”

Furthermore:

“My sense is this: I'll be surprised if Creighton is the choice on Saturday. The biggest thing they have going is that Kerwin has always played on really good teams, played for championships. Creighton should be really, really good next season.”

That doesn't sound very encouraging.

Would be absolutely gutting if he ends up picking Georgetown after all this.

I'm out after those quotes. I was hoping this would be the great news we all needed after TSA, but I'd rather just be pleasantly surprised at this point.

That isn't encouraging...
It would be a bit of a gut punch, even considering nothing is guaranteed in recruiting, to miss on Kerwin the same week TSA announces he's for sure gone.
Better ramp up the effort on grad transfers and class of 21, coaches.

Reminds me a bit of the comments by the other sites prior to Kalkbrenner committing to us

Kalkbrenner actually got a couple of crystal balls early in the weekend he ended up signing. Committed late Sunday and jays predictions came in Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Will be interesting to see which direction those recruiting guys start going as only one rivals prediction has been entered (to UNC) and none I see on 247.

Isn’t that why blue chip players sign with places like Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, and the like, year in and year out, that those teams are usually expected to be “really, really good next season”. North Carolina had a bad year last year and currently are not at our level, just a team with past glory. CU is the no brained choice if he wants to play for a really, really good team next year.

Wolfson is a Minnesota homer, so his comments have to be interpreted through that lens.

Insider on UNC 247 board said they heard the following today:

Many in national media think it’s between UNC and Minnesota.
Creighton coaches think it’s between them and UNC.
Arizona thinks it’s between them and UNC.
