Confused. You don't want King to come to CU?

I resent your rhyming

And I am not a fan of your opining.

But aren’t we all hoping for a royal signing?

King spent Tues. and Wed. nights at CU. and left sometime Thurs. So he spent Thurs. and Fri. nights at BYU. So he would leave there some time Sat. So he very well could be at Utah just like Creightontakes said.

The paragraph on Creighton in that article is pretty interesting

I'm feeling less and less confident with the passing day. If it's really a question for him of us vs. Georgia Tech, BYU, or Utah, then he's not coming here. So what backup plans do we have? Last year we were going after a similar guy (Adem Bona?) but he decided against reclassifying and we got KeyShawn instead. Hopefully we've got something lined up like that.

yep. I'm getting those same feelings. This should be a no-brainer...but it apparently isn't. The influence of his NBA Acad coach (former BYU Asst) is significant. If he goes elsewhere, I'd rank this miss up there with the Stover miss in 2008. There are still a few bigs in the transfer portal.

I really think that this team has enough size without King, or a currently available transfer big, to compete for a first-place BE finish. Kaluma, Green, and Miller all give you some interesting lineup options. Our coaches have successfully played small in the past, we can do it again if we have to (the worst case scenario being Kalk is injured for an extended period, which I don't think is something we or the coaches should assume). What you really need for that to work is more shooting. Which is why I've thought this whole time that getting a high-scoring option on the wing was the top priority.

Some guys want to come in and be the man from day 1 and some are fine with getting bench minutes and developing. I have no idea where King stand on that spectrum, but it's not really that cut and dry that you just automatically choose the best team on the list.

I don't take anything that's happened to mean he won't come here (or will), he's just taking his time and making the best choice for him (which in my completely unbiased take is Creighton). If he wants to be a freshman starting and playing 30 minutes a game this probably isn't the landing spot for him, but if he wants to get 10 to 20 minutes/game and practice against one of the best centers in the country on a top 10 team then we're just what he's looking for.

I wouldn't compare a situation where you're playing Kaluma, Green, and Miller to the times when Toby or CB were playing the 5. Both of those guys were much more capable of playing the spot. Maybe Kaluma could get there, but he'd have to put on some weight. Green may be more physically there, but redshirting may be in his best interest. And if Miller was having to put on weight just to play the wing/muscle to play the wing, he's definitely not going to be at the 5 this season.
If we roll with any of those 3, I think we'd be in a situation much closer to Wragge at the 5. Considering how well that went (just in terms of defense/rebounding), I'm definitely in the "we really do need a backup big" camp.
