This seems to say Zugic committed to Bilbao Basket last week;

Is this wrong?

I am sure he is going to have some options that he will have to weigh now that he dropped out of the draft. Bilbao pays their players between $200-500K but Spain also has some crazy tax laws.

Have to believe he's coming here to make some NIL - but mostly to get himself more exposure and get himself drafted by NBA.

All of that said - PT for those two wing spots is going to be every bit the war that our four spot is. We now have seven guys fighting for minutes at those two spots. Will anyone RS? only guy who I think might is Ty Davis. Maybe we've convinced Fedor that this is his path - but I kinda doubt it if he was already a dark horse for this year's draft and has been playing European pro ball. Euros really seem to struggle with our defensive principles and we know what it takes to get on the floor with Mac.

we have had mixed results with Euros (miss you Martin!) - and particularly these late grabs. Rati was our highest or second highest rated recruit ever - and he could barely get off the bench.

Am told that Miller and Kellogg are heading back over in July for more scouting.

Zugic would start here. I don't think we would bring a top 3-4 player on our roster off the bench nor would he commit to coming here for a bench role. He's also going to be 21 years old by the time we play games in the fall so a couple years older than Rati when he got here. Rati was also pretty rusty coming off the acl injury.

Lineups would definitely get interesting if he came here. Could see something like this:

PG - Pop 30 mpg - Ashworth 10 mpg
SG - Zugic - 25 mpg - Ashworth 15 mpg
SF - Neal - 25 mpg - Zugic 5 mpg - LJ 10 mpg
PF - Green 15 mpg - Mason 15 mpg - McAndrew 10 mpg
C - Kalk 30 mpg - King 5 mpg - Traudt 5 mpg

Going to be tough to keep everyone happy. Could see King redshirting instead of playing 5-10 mpg again. Not sure LJ and McAndrew would be very happy playing 10 mpg but with Pop, Ashworth, Neal and Zugic minutes would be hard to find in the backcourt not to mention the logjam at the 4.

i had forgotten about Rati's injury - so that's good point

I can't imagine Ashworth won't start. I just don't think that's possible. We have zero true PG on roster - and he is the only one with any experience running the offense.

If Fedor is ready to play - I think it's more between him and pop on the floor with Ash than Neal.

It's been reported that Traudt is already down 20 lbs. Is this the move of someone who is going to play backup C or try to be in better shape to guard outside and play the four - i tend to think the latter. And he got some decent PT last year - the minutes at four are going to be fascinating. I tend to think McAndrew will more likely get wing time as his length will help him on D as his body probably isn't ready for the demands of guarding 4/5s along with a desire to get him on the floor - which will be hard as hell with the longjam of guys there.

I've been critical of Mac's roster construction in the past. And this current one in many ways is head scratching. Of course he has a habit of making this idea look dumb when he goes out and we kick ass - so there's definitely that.

Fedor was the youngest player ever in the Euro league. He started playing at 15 years old. Crazy.

It sure looks like our roster will be absolutely loaded if Fedor signs. (Of course, I’ve felt that way in prior summers and been surprised)

Lots of mouths to feed.

Traudt will be interesting next year. I don't think the added weight he had was good for him in whatever position he played. He is always going to be kind of a tweener at the 4/5 because of his lateral mobility and just not being a really explosive athlete while also being a 6'11 knock down shooter.

Hmmm, I find it interesting having guys listed in 2 positions. What is theiry primary position?
My take/guess on the lineup.

PG - Ashworth 25 mpg - Isaacs 15 mpg - Davis ? Mpg
SG - Isaac’s 15 mpg - LJ 25 mpg - Knox ? mpg
SF - Neal - 20 mpg - Zugic 15 mpg - Miller - 5 Mpg
PF - Green 15 mpg - Mason 10 mpg - McAndrew 15 mpg
C - Kalk 36 mpg - King 2 mpg - Traudt 2 mpg
