He has to register and go to school at his new school next year.

I'll take a shot at answering your questions.

1) In order to play fall of 2014, he has to be enrolled somewhere this fall semester. That could be a D1 school or even a D2 school if he doesn't want to sit a year, although I think that's pretty unlikely. If he did go to D2 though, he could put off choosing his ultimate D1 school until next summer if he really wanted.

2) As to a timeframe for him making a decision, as long as a school has a scholarship available, the deadline would be the same deadline as each school's individual fall enrollment deadline, which is usually around a week after classes start.

3) We will know his top three whenever Coleman decides to tell us. He does not need to name a top 3 at all if he doesn't want to, nor is there any deadline if he wants to make such a list. Frankly, since we are apparently waiting on the Grant Gibbs decision anyway, it may work to our benefit to have Coleman take his time. For other schools that may have to run someone to make room (I'm looking at you, Iowa St) they probably want a decision ASAP.

DesMoines Register is reporting that "DeAndre Kane, who averaged 15.1 points and seven assists for Marshall last season, accepted coach Fred Hoiberg’s scholarship offer."
