Jays extremely interested in Illinois stud outfielder Anthony Ray. The 6'1'' has the versatility and skill to play all outfield positions as well as 2nd base. Ray is a switch hitter who hits for average and has good pop. Ray is also a terror when he reaches bases as scouts have said Ray "can change the complexion of a game when gets on base."

Ray is rated the #1 OF recruit coming out of Illinois in 2013.

Here are some evaluations:

Ray is an athletically gifted 6-foot, 157-pound left-handed hitting outfielder who possesses all the tools to be a high-level prospect. Ray, who ran a 6.9 60, was particularly impressive in the outfield. He moves extremely well, taking confident routes to the baseball, and demonstrated plus arm strength (87 mph). He stays on top of the baseball well, working downhill, which gives his throws excellent carry. Offensively, Ray continued to impress. The left-handed hitter showcased top-level bat speed and barrel whip through the zone. He has an aggressive approach and gets through the ball well. Ray has extremely long arms and legs, and when he physically develops, he has the potential to mature into a premier national prospect.

Ray is a one of the premier athletes in the Class of 2013 with his ability to excel in all aspects of the game. The lanky, 6-foot-1, 160-pound left-handed hitting outfielder moves with fluidity in the outfield, taking precise routes to the baseball. He is aggressive at his position, playing through the ball and displaying soft hands. He showed the best positional arm strength at the event, clocked at 88 mph with excellent carry. Ray, who ran a 6.88 60, also exhibited tremendously quick hands and barrel whip through the zone at the plate. He hits from an open setup, and has an aggressive plate approach. For his slight frame, he generates impressive torque in his swing.

Ray is a 6-foot, 160-pound athlete who looks to be one of the premier outfielders in the Class of 2013. Ray impressed with his speed, running a 6.75 60 and a 3.8 home to first. Defensively, Ray exhibited smooth, concise routes to the ball and showed a strong arm from the outfield (89 mph) that showed carry and life. At the plate, Ray displayed an aggressive left-handed swing with plus bat speed. Ray showed the ability to stay inside the baseball well as he sprayed line drives to all fields.

sounds like Anthony will be joining the Jays after a quick stop at John A Logan College. Ray is a top outfielder in the 2013 class.

What is a quick stop? First semester?

I believe 1 year at John Logan, comes to Creighton as a Sophomore. Anthony Ray will join up with Kevin Smith, David Gerber, Nicky Lopez, Jeff Albrecht, and Logan Grant to make one hell of a class!
