2017 G Marcus Evans (VCU Verbal Transfer)

Two time 1st team All-Conference USA guard Marcus Evans recently announced his desire to transfer from Rice. Mike Rhodes recently departed Rice for his former program VCU. Evans is one of the top, sophomore guards in the country.

2015-2016 - Freshman - 21.4ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.8apg, 2.2spg, 30.6% from 3
2016-2017 - Sophomore - 19.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.7apg, 1.1spg, 37.6% from 3

But VCU is one in a long line for Evans, who is considered one of the top mid-major guards in the country. He said St. John's, North Carolina State, Miami, Florida State and Creighton are among those who already put in a call. Evans said he'll decide on some visits and would like to make a decision sooner than later.

I had no clue there was a dude putting up those kind of numbers at Rice. Sounds like there's some good options out there if we don't land Bowen, Evans definitely being one of those.

Some of you will interpret the fact that we are pursuing so many wings as indicating that our coaches must not have confidence in our incoming class. Of course others will point out that that this is a very special class coming in this year based on the recruit ranking services, to them that notion is blasphemy. There are a few of you who feel strongly both ways. Hopefully none of you will actually take any of that seriously.
