Anthony Lee (Graduate Transfer)

Tue Mar 18, 2014 8:43 am

Temple forward Anthony Lee has decided to transfer for his final year of eligibility, sources told CBSSports.com.

Lee can play immediately at his next destination, taking advantage of the graduate transfer rule.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds this past season for the Owls.

Because he can play right away, expect multiple high-major schools to get involved. Lee racked up 11 double-doubles last season, and is active on the interior, both rebounding the ball and contesting shots. He finished his career at Temple with a 17-point, seven-rebound, three-block performance against UCF.

This guy is a good player. Father is a pastor in Davenport Iowa and he is a "gospel rapper" who likes to spread a positive message. Sounds like a Creighton type player to me. Go get him!

Just an update after an interview with a Temple radio station:

A few notes from Lee's appearance on the Temple student radio station:

- They didn't ask Lee much at all about where he might be looking to transfer, but he did say he is looking to settle in the Midwest because his family will have an easier time coming to see him play.

"Schools in the Midwest are definitely positive situations," he said.
- He hopes to make his decision sometime in the next couple of weeks. He made the decision to transfer because after redshirting his freshman season, he has a year of eligibility and is looking for a new playing situation.

- Lee, who averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game this season, said he is open to playing multiple positions wherever he transfers.

"I’m definitely more of a four, but I had a lot of experience playing the five here," he said.
- No mention of IU, obviously. The only specific school mentioned was Iowa, where he has some connections.

Hmmm..........a midwest Jesuit school whose All-American PF is leaving. I sure hope someone is on the phone!

Fred Hoiberg is probably setting up dinner reservations at his house as we speak.

Didn't a bunch of people have little birds telling them we were seeking a transfer to play immediately? Sounds like he would help fill our immediate need (replacing our production at the 4)

Temple transfer Anthony Lee's list continues to expand. He's heard from Louisville, Ohio State, Florida, FSU, USC, Miami, Pitt, NC State.

I sure hope the staff atleast inquired. He fits the bill for Creighton almost perfectly.

Sounds like Hilltop is correct, disappointing since he seems like a good fit for Creighton on/off court.
