2014 athlete guard from Omaha Benson has been impressive for OSA Crusaders the last couple weeks. Drawing attention from mid-majors including many teams in the Valley. Surely a player the Jays are watching closely
from Jayhawk Invitational:
Thomas may be the sleeper of the tournament with his performance against All Iowa Attack Saturday. The junior can flat out play on both ends of the floor. Thomas loves to get it done on defense, often sparking his offense, which included some big dunks in transition. Thomas was in double figures in a losing effort, but nearly brought the Crusaders back from a big deficit

you gotta love that the picture has him in another team's jerseys because someone at Benson screwed up during the state tournament.

Seen this kid play a number of times. Good size and great athletic ability. Type of athlete that can eventually play on the major conference level.

Benson's Thomas had a good showing out west at the BallisLife Magic Memorial Day Fest in Cali.
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecr ... st?id=6893 (May, 28th story)
Joel Francisco lists him as one of two "Sleepers on the Rise"
Doesn't state which team he was playing with...or why he was on the left coast AAU circuit.
Sleepers on the rise
Josh Rideau (Los Angeles/Westchester)
2014, WF, 6-foot-6, 170 pounds
Status: UTEP and Northern Arizona are involved
Rideau fits that sleeper tag to a T. The rangy wing-type can stroke jump shots and his release is tight. He gets his shot off quick and gets good lift on it jumper. He needs to improve his ball skills (struggles against pressure), but he has ideal size for the wing and he is just scratching the surface of his potential.
Khyri Thomas (Omaha, Neb./Benson)
2014, 6-foot-4, 180 pounds
Thomas has great length with long arms and big hands. He is tremendous in transition where he can explode to the rim and finish through contact and can knock in shots from all over the court. Due to his physical intangibles and assertiveness at both ends, he is a possible sleeper down the road.

The local kid is finally getting a little ink. Trees falling in Omaha don't make noise on the WWL or Rivals writers twitter feeds.
Thomas looks to be aggressive, hungry, and looking for a place to prove folks wrong. Since the Jays are already out in the weeds with Wms, Demery, and others - giving KT a good look may bring big dividends. He has that "Diamond-in-the-rough" look about him.
Hilltop...any CU interest in Khyre? KT interest in CU?

Any word on if he is academically eligible? OPS hasn't done the best job in getting kids eligible lately, probably because kids seemingly have no academic threshold to meet in order to keep playing. I know that of last year's starting five at Central, only ONE kid was eligible!!!
Nice to see Khyri getting some interest and Omaha producing some quality talent. If he's eligible and high D1 caliber, I'd like us to check him out.

It says that he plays on the OSA Crusaders squad but their last tournament was in early May. He may have gone out there with another local team.

Any updates on Khyri?
Seems to be a player on the rise/late bloomer, and people seem think he has a pretty high ceiling. I hope we are at least considering him as an option for 2014.

Wonder if the staff has any interest here.

*Bump*
Noticed Chatman, Coach Mac, and D-Rock just started following him on Twitter. Have to assume they are interested.
