Chrishawn Hopkins

This kid got kicked off of the Butler squad. Athletic Jr PG was expected to start this year. Would CU look at a kid like this as a transfer?

I would still be more interested in Dawson for long term, but just curious if folks thought CU might take a run at a "rebound" player like this. Obviously a large part of it would be based on what the infractions were.

Would he be eligible to play this year or do the transfer rules apply in situations like this also?

Usually, when there are no police records, yet a kid is being summarily dismissed at this point in the season, it is due to a series of failed drug tests. It is too early to be in academic trouble and a lack of any police records would seemingly rule out assault, etc.

Since the season has started and he accepted aid, he would have to sit out two full semesters after the present one is over. That would make him eligible after the end of first semester, 2013.

Kid is super talented and his loss drops Butler to no better than a mid pack team in the A10 IMO. With all the offseason turmoil in the A10 (Dez Wells leaving X; Hopkins out at Butler; Majerus being out on sick leave), I'd say that St Joe's or VCU would have to be the favorite to win that league right now.

As far as potential transfers go, I asked yesterday whether Texas Tech might have someone we would be interested in or have a prior relationship with due to Lutz. The whole Billy Clyde Gillespie mess down there would seemingly have some kids looking to get out (although they lost a ton of kids to transfer after last year).

Sorry, but this smells like trouble with a capital P.

Yeah, I doubt Coach Mac is looking for players w/"off the court" issues....I'm sure Hoiberg is calling.
